A little disappointed in Daniel Snyder

I am not quite sure if this is the correct place to post this but it is Redskin's related, please feel free to move it, if it'd be better off elsewhere.

Today we were near the Dulles Towne Center so we decided to hit the Redskin's Store. I had seen some publicity about the Redskins doing some stuff with the breast cancer awareness stuff. I fully wanted to support them and buy one the hats. For those who haven't seen the pictures they are black with a pink Redskin's logo on it. I am not big on pink in general BUT 5 dollars from the price of that hat was going directly to a fund for research. So I was fully intending to buy the hat. But when I saw it I changed my mind. This hat is 20 bucks. Same price as any other hat you could buy at the stadium or at the stores. HOWEVER, it is the crappiest hat I've ever seen. It looks like a hat that should cost 5 bucks. So instead of making the same quality hat and taking a cut in his profit he had to make a horrible product and pass the loss on with us. That really makes me mad. So I will support the fight against breast cancer in a different way. I am completely ticked that our owner is such a penny pinching jerk that he did something like this.

Portis signed an eight-year, $50.5 million contract

penny pincher? whose the penny pincher, nikki?

Think about it in relative terms. To a billionaire, what is 50 million? If he can afford to pay a contract like that, he sure as hell can afford to make a decent quality product.

I was fed up with Danny boy within a year of him taking over the team! To be fair he will drop the cash to get a player, sometimes it’s the wrong player, but he will spend the money. I think it is crazy to pay 5 bucks for a coke and you can’t get a top or straw! For 5 bucks, it should at least walk itself to my seat! If not carry me there LOL!
His other penny-pinching antics have left me a bit frustrated, I bought club house seats a few years ago and was shocked when I went into the bar and it was like being outside! Everyone in there was dressed as if they were sitting outside for the game. When I started asking what was wrong with the heat I was told my a number of people that just left me almost speechless, I was told that Danny did not run the heat in the clubhouse. Maybe it was just broke that year, but it fits his style to try and save money by sticking it to the fans. Then the whole walking to the stadium thing, his stance on this was it was just too unsafe to walk into the stadium! Give me a break! If that is the case, how come you can walk-in from the pay lots? Paying Danny 20-25 bucks makes it safer.

Then there is the parking situation, he was not happy making a killing off the stadium lots he had to go and buy the church lot also were you could always count on a parking place for 10 bucks before he bought the team! That was my favorite place to tailgate now it’s the purple lot! This is my second year as a season ticket holder and it sucks that I still can’t get a damn parking space, if I were not disabled it would not be so bad, but I have missed one game this year and at least two last year because I can’t deal with that bus ride some weeks!

The worse of all is he reminds me of Jerry Jones! I know that is a smack in the face and I never thought I would compare anything close to the burgundy and gold to such a sorry franchise, but he sticks his nose to far into the football side of things. He has been a major factor in us paying over the hill players millions of dollars and most of them got paid for years after we cut them, he offers to buy players a big screen TV so they can at least watch the game from home because if they stayed with the SKINS they sure wouldn’t be playing! I think he is the reason LaVar isn’t getting any playing time (did he even play in Dallas?) granted he is not playing the way he did a few years ago, but hell he hasn’t played much the last two seasons, so he still needs to find his groove, he never will if he is left on the sidelines. Ok I have gone on long enough about my dislike of Danny, and don’t get me wrong when it comes down to it, he is Burgundy and Gold, so he has my support but damn Danny leave the player management to Joe and his crew, and loosen up the purse strings a little for the fans!

Tricks I'm sorry to hear about your parking trouble. I agree that Danny has done a great job (from an business man's prospective) of making parking a very sought after commodity. There are not enough parking passes to go around, yet during every game there are spaces galore in the Orange lot left empty.

I think as far as Lavar goes, that is more a Greg Williams situation. If you remember Lavar just months ago was disputing the franchise about his botched contract. Williams has been known to make players earn their roster spots back. So technically the burden for getting back in there is Lavar's. I am sure that fact does not make him happy given the status of his newly negotiated contract details but it's life in the Greg Williams offense. Ask Matt Bowen!

Perhaps part of the probelm with DS is that people CONSTANTLY throw him under the bus for things that they shouldn't.

The league splits ALL merchandise profit EVENLY among ALL teams.

So in my mind, it doesn't matter if the Redskins sell 10 times as much merchandise as everyone else, they're going to get the same clip as everyone else. Earning a higher profit per item would be almost completely non-consequential to their INDIVIDUAL bottom line. Maybe the charity angle does afford some way to circumvent the normal 'profit distribution' but that is a lot to presume IMO.

My 2 cents

what I don't understand is...

If you don't like the freakin hat then just DONATE 5 dollars to breast cancer research!

First of all leave your attitude at home skinsfan55. I will donate money to breast cancer research on my own, as a matter of fact, I stated just that in my original post. I was expressing my opinion about the fact that Snyder did not back this cause enough to really get behind it, in makiing a quality product. It's funny how you can complain until the cows come home and express your opinion but let another person express theirs and out pops your attitude. Seriously save it for some one who gives a crap.

Didn't he buy the Redskins for 800 million? The franchise is already valued at over a billion.

Yes, it was a pretty great investment on his part. Not that he needed it, but selling the Redskins in 5 years (after a couple of superbowls) could ensure that his great-grandchildren don't have to wipe their own butts.

Does anyone really know if DS actually saw the product after it was made, and then went ahead with the promotion? I would bet not.

I will say that at the game today, a very large opportunity was made to raising money for breast cancer through every entrance and by any means possible. I'm not sticking up for DS, however, I think that he's making an attempt to raise money, with him having cancer himself a year or so ago. This isn't a Dan Synder issue, if you look at the Race for the Cure, 90% of the money raised goes toward markteting and race events, while 10% actually goes toward the actual cause. I have a feeling this is more of a league thing than a DS thing.

Ok it was a mistake to post this, obviously.

I was not quite clear. I'm not saying that Daniel Snyder said make a crappy product. I'm saying that I'm sure, since he owns the team, the logo, etc., it would have been possible for him to say if my logo is going to appear on the product make it a quality item. And further more, only $5 from each hat was going to the fund. They never said "profits from" or anything similar.

So next time I get upset about something that I apparently don't know much about I'll keep my mouth shut. I tend to let my emotions take over in instances in life where I should just keep my mouth shut.

Sure next time don't post

And let us that aren't so close to home buy crappy hats over the internet.

Bought a had today for my girl. There are nice. Quit complaining. If you are going to live in this area, get used to jacked up prices. I would bay $100/hat to be 3-0.

The effort to raise money to overcome breast cancer is a worthy effort no matter how it is promoted. That is what's really important here. I would think that DS has probably donated a substantial amount of $$$ toward cancer research, and that the quality of the hat is really insignicant. Overcoming cancer in our lifetime is a worthwhile effort.
