Superstition

Okay, I want to get some of your thoughts regarding supersistions. I think I’ve started a “good luck” thing, but want your folk’s advice on how best to handle it. Let me start at the beginning…
Picture this:
It’s the end of the 3rd quarter of the Dallas game. I am in deep despair. I’m the only one up, the house is dark, I’m slumped way down on my couch and my dog is eyeing me suspiciously like he is worried that I might actually kick him (no, I don’t do that…). I’m mumbling to myself that all is lost and it sucks ‘cause I’ll be tired the next day because I have to watch this thing all the way through, and to add insult to injury, we most certainly will have lost. I shuffle dejectedly into the kitchen, grab my Redskins shot glass, fill it with warm vodka, lift it in the air, chuckle and say to myself “ you know if they pull this off, I’m gonna have to do this for every game”.
You know the rest.
So my question is…. Do I save my “Miracle shot” for desperate situations or do I have to do a “Miracle Shot” for every game and if so when?
Also, what do you do to "help the team" superstitiously?

I did the exact same thing, but after 14 yrs of loyalty, I cursed the Redskins and my years of misery with 5mins left,
I told myself I will denounce my love of the Skins and actually cheered for Dallas to kick the crap out of the Skins.
What do you know, 1 min later the skins score their first TD of the season, with a amazing 3rd and 20 something run by Brunny and Moss TD catch ok ok. lucky. I cheer on Dallas and what do you know 2nd TD of season on a 4th and long I think. Of course in the back of my mind i was happy-angry, but God-dam I'm cursed.

Have Grey Goose on the rocks, before each game Chris, we need good plays early and often.
And the GG will help us even more than regular Vodka cause it is high quality = good quality Wins.

Interesting predicament you're in CH. I'm not really the superstitious type, but before we can resolve your bind, we must first ascertain a few things:
What hand do you hold the shot glass with when drinking it?
Is your hand facing the moon as you pull the shotglass away from your mouth?
Have you brushed your dogs hair across the Vodka bottle prior to pouring?
Does your dog howl before or after you've taken the shot?
And, how many beers have you had prior to the miracle shot?

My right...its my favorite hand!!
Is your hand facing the moon as you pull the shotglass away from your mouth?
Not sure, but it was definitely pointed to the North
Have you brushed your dogs hair across the Vodka bottle prior to pouring?
No, I usually don't get the hound involved in this sort of thing. I think its best that way
Does your dog howl before or after you've taken the shot?
Neither, rather he put his paws over his head like "Petie" from Lil' Rascals
And, how many beers have you had prior to the miracle shot?
Also, not sure, but lets just say...many....

The Skins were trailing the Broncos one year in a really big game. In the 2nd quarter the Skins scored and I slammed a Shot of Brandy and a 12 oz beer. I continued after each score. I enjoyed the 2nd Quarter but I missed the 2nd half and had to watch it on tape. It was worth it but I don't do that anymore.

That had to have been the Denver Superbowl 'cause no-one could have survived that 2nd quarter scoring spurt if they drank after every score. It was a record up to that point.

Come on DH.
Ever heard of taking one for the team?
Think of the fans.
I'm willing to compromise. You don't have to wear the fish net stockings or high heels.
I hope you will reconsider.

Typically I'm a very superstitious person but I didn't do anything particularly special during the Skins/Dallas game so I don't feel obligated to do what I did last time ever again or to hold to anything that made the win happen. YOU however are stuck. Warm Vodka and and if I hear otherwise you personally get blamed for the loss!

Yes NikiH, I agree, I am stuck. Actually, warm vodka isn't that bad if you knock it down fast and its decent quality.
Anyway, you all can rest assured I undertand my obligation and will "take one for the team". You won't be able to blame a loss on me, thats fer sure...

Tell you what. I'm drinking from the same mug on Sunday that I was drinking from that Monday night.
Not for nothin'. Stick with what works.

Wekk, you did say EVERY game. Maybe you should save it for the last 5 mins though or something like that.

I was drinking too, but I will have to start drinking at 7 in the morning.
The Skins didn't start doing anything until I was completely hammered.
Maybe I will have to wake up around six and start taking beer bongs?

lol, I don't think the Redeemed one would like wwatching a game with me... during the average sporting contest that I am invested in... I take the Lord's name in vain an average of 123,062 times.

Yeah, if someone sitting around me doesn't know our roster very well, they usually leave thinking that Jesus Christ is our back-up Safety.

Considering how they began to play better in the last game, it's apparent that the team is on an upswing, which can only mean you'll be blaspheming less and less as we get closer to Super Bowl XL.
:
So...um...about that extra ticket... :-"

Or our quarterback, or our offensive line, or our wide recievers...
