Spikes got the Jon Jansen flu:

Bills LB Spikes tears Achilles, out for season
NFL.com wire reports
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (Sept. 26, 2005) -- Bills Pro Bowl linebacker Takeo Spikes will miss the rest of the season with a torn right Achilles' tendon.

And it looks like Harrison (the Pats Safety) is out for the year too:

Report: Patriots S Harrison out for year with torn ACL
September 26, 2005
BRISTOL, Connecticut - It appears a dramatic victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers came at a heavy price for the New England Patriots.

ESPN is reporting that Rodney Harrison has a torn left ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.

The three-time Pro Bowl strong safety suffered the injury when Steelers receiver Cedric Wilson rolled into his left leg after being tackled in the first quarter of the Patriots' 23-20 win at Pittsburgh. Harrison was carted off the field and looked like a player who knew his season was over.

The Patriots have not yet confirmed the severity of the injury. Coach Bill Belichick said the MRI results on Harrison's knee would be disclosed on Tuesday.

Wow. That really sucks for both of those players...and their respective teams. Both were playmakers and, I'm sure, will be sorely missed.

Adam Schecter on NFL Total Access says Pennington has a torn rotator cuff and will be out for the year! He's flying to see Dr. Andrews tomorrow for a second opinion. Very bad new indeed, the same injury again, this could be the end of his career.

To make matters worse, Fiedler is out six weeks too. The Jets are screwed.

Yeah, now Pennington is down too.

And I really hate to say this because I am a huge Ramsey supporter, but maybe NY would be a possible destination for Patrick. I mean, Feidler is acceptbale and all, but you never know.

Wow, Harrison's injury now is much worse than first reported. ESPN now says that his entire knee was blown out - torn ACL, MCL, AND PCL. That is VERY serious.

Word is Brooks Bollinger will get the start against the Ravens.

...and Robbie Akers with a hamstring tear. I don't like the Eagles, but boy...you hate to see a guy like this go down.

I think you mean David Akers.

And it was stupid for Reid not to activate another kicker for the game. I can't believe the slack Reid is getting for this.

I think Reid does an awful job keeping his players healthy. It's week 3 and they're all banged up. I think he grinds them too hard. Playing Akers was a huge mistake, he clearly wasn't in good shape. Now he's saying he hopes Akers may be able to practice this week! This injury will require at least 3 or 4 weeks to heal properly, probably more.

You're right. Robbie Akers takes down trees for me in my lanscaping stuff.
Gibbs called Reid out on that, saying that it could've been disastrous for them.

Personally I was tickled pink that Akers got thrown in to blow a hammy. :-)

Dumb, dumb, dumb move by the Eagles. I know it's only the kicker but he is one of the best if not THE best.

... but not on one leg.

I personally couldn't stop laughing when the Eagles started the game with an offsides penalty on the kick and then another on the rekick where Akers hurt himself. The third kick went OB so Oakland started on the 50 without doing anything. Then it was offsides unabated to the QB on Philly so before Oakland had even run a play they were on the Eagles' 45 yd line and Akers had hurt himself. It was the most rediculous series of events to start a game that I have ever seen.

And all we heard about the Eagles all off season was how good the players were and how great the coaches are and how they are the best in the NFC! This really shows the media "gurus" how stupid their predictions are. "Injuries are a part of the NFL" - then they say "well, if it wasn't for the injuies"! :nana:

What is it they say before the curtain goes up? "break a leg"! :-({|=

Bengals lose both centers to injuries Click here to find out more!
NFL.com wire reports

CINCINNATI (Oct. 2, 2005) -- The Bengals lost both centers to knee injuries during the first half, forcing guard Eric Steinbach to take off his gloves and play the position.

Rich Braham, the Bengals' 12th-year veteran, hurt a knee during the second quarter against the Houston Texans. The severity of the injury wasn't immediately known, but the Bengals said he wasn't expected to return.

Backup center Larry Moore hurt his right knee while blocking on a run play later in the second quarter and was taken off the field on a cart.

The other center on the roster, fourth-round draft pick Eric Chiaciuc, was inactive.
