If you get a minute, please join me in prayers for those in the Gulf. They're set to see huge waves, water and wind. My best to all those volunteers and troops!

Have been praying and will continue to do so.

Louisiana just can't catch a break.

Same here.

I've been getting hourly reports from Killeen, which is such a hopeless desert that nothing drains. Long lines at the gas stations. However, the storm, as of late last night, was turning eastward. More in the direction of Louisiana.

Odd breakdowns at the Ft Hood commissary. A woman asks why there are no more packs of water, and a cashier tells her, "Well you should have come earlier". As if it should be everyone for themselves, save me and forget the rest. Like the quip from Hobbes: a war of everyone against everyone else, leading to a life that is "nasty, brutish, and short".

What happened to our connection to other Americans? Does it only appear when we can reach down and pull someone up? Does it disappear when a catastrophe puts us all in danger?

Things are cool in San Antonio. We are just dealing with the evacues(sp).
