I think that's an oversimplification. The offensive improvement also had to do with changing schemes and switching quarterbacks.

I think it's amazing that Gibbs desire to win is greater than his ego. Contrast with Spurrier, who gave up play calling for a game or two, then took it back because it wasn't fun for him...

No big deal. He is good at delegating authority which is what he has done.

He gets the recommendation then goes with it, or makes his own call. He always talked throughout the game with the assistants on the field anyway, so it's not really that different.

i don't care if the waterboy calls the plays, as long as they move the ball well and gain some sense of continuity on offense.

yeah it seems more like he is given a suggestion based on what they see upstairs, and goes with it if he likes it. but if he doesn't, he calls whatever he wants anyway. so gibbs is not the sole play-calling dictator, but he is still very much involved, and the ultimate authority.

Imagine this pressure.

Ramsey walks to the line of scrimmage. There are 90,000 screaming fans around you...watching you. There are a few million people watching on television. Reporters, cameras, your family all counting on you.

The defense is stellar. You have a prolific running back, blazing quick receivers, and a stout offensive line.

And above all of that...the only voice you hear above the screaming crowd is the voice of a Hall of Famer...you have no reason to fail.

That has got to be a great deal of pressure for Patrick Ramsey. I hope he steps up and seizes this opportunity to be a great QB.

Don't really care....afterall...he's going to be the main man to decide. He's still the chief justics in my eyes!

All I care about is the right guy getting the right plays in there. I don't care if its the waterboy or even the guy who does the teams laundry. I just want us to win. I saw a great play today that I wish that we would run. Its too hard to explain but man, it was pretty smart. They took the top receiver (Randy Moss) and put him in the slot position. They took another receiver and rotated him to Moss's side of the field. Then the moved the RB to the oposite side at the same time. This made a matchup of a linebacker on Moss and then a possible safety stepping up. Well a linebacker was only pulled out of the left side so Moss ran a flag patern and he was wide open. They showed how this worked against the Pat's several times last year. It was quite briliant.

This is a classic example of what makes Joe Gibbs so great. It shows that he's willing to do ANYTHING at all to make this team better. If it means giving the play calling duties to someone else, then he'll do it. But, it should by no means be taken as an admission of failure on his part. He said that he wants more time to be organized on game day, and if that's what he feels is needed, then I believe him. Even though he's giving the duties to someone else, he really isn't. He has the final say on ANYTHING that goes on the field. Like JF said, the other guys just make a recommendation and if Gibbs likes it, he'll go with it. If he doesn't, and I'm sure there are such times, he'll go with someone else.

As Gibbs himself once said, to appear knowledgable, you have to surround yourself with knowledgable people. That's the sign of a good leader.

They showed a similar Norv play on NFL Matchup. It was when he was with the Fish, they put Chambers in the slot and had two TEs as the wideouts. The CBs covered the TEs and that left a LB on Chambers. Needless to say, big gainer to Chambers.

I think its great that Gibbs is giving up the play calling (like someone aid, he's probably not giving it up completely). He needs to get more organized on the sideline. The stupid delay of game penalties were friggin' embarassing last year (I have to watch games with Pats fans who just look at me and chuckle when that sh*t happens). Not only that, I have to wonder how many times audibles were not called because there simply wasn't enough time? Gibss genius is seeing a hole and filling it. This is one of those cases.
