Just found out this morning that Naval Air Station New Orleans is looking for naval air traffic controllers to come work their tower/radar so that the controllers stationed there can get their lives in order. I called my Chief immediately and I'm #1 on the list to go if it goes through. I'll probably be gone for a month or two, but I'm excited about helping out. I feel like a big slug right now...
I'll let you know more when I know more.

Way to go, skinz74.
I'm very glad that you're helping out and I know the residents of the Gulf region will be as well.

Hey Skinz 74,I know how you feel. I was stationed at Coast Guard Airstation New Orleans from 1990 to 1995. When Hurricane Andrew hit we were flying around the clock. The last two years I've been recruiting and to be honest I feel like I should be down there with my "Buds",saving people.

I'm not trying to antagonize you DEHog, but I would like you to check for yourself why the Red Cross has not been feeding starving people in New Orleans. Just check its web site. You might also investigate who's getting the contract for the New Orleans clean up. Make what you will with the info. It's in your hands, for I'm not going to post for awhile. See if you have the impulse to post it.

We're SO far past the finger pointing stage that we've officially lapped it. It's time to put those fingers to work and help people. I don't agree with the fact that roughly %25 of the money donated to the Red Cross goes for administrative needs, but at this point...I DON'T CARE. THEY ARE HELPING PEOPLE.

Sounds great Skins. You are exactly the type of person that is needed in N.O. right. Everyone has to do their part.
