That is so f-ed up!
Though, admittedly those images and captions came from different sources, which probalby influence the tone of the captions.
Also, I guess you might be able to parse it to being the difference between taking bread and taking beer.
But, I think those are all excuses -- and it's just plain f-ed up!

reaching there, huh?.... seems to me one of the "white people" could possibly be cuban/hispanic ( the one holding the bread ) in fact the only for sure "white" guy isn't holding anything likely because both his hands are under water...
and don't you think it's more important that people take bread & soda... than a bucket of beer?
Thousands of people are dying & in need... and all we can think about here is that some
obviously "white" reporter

may be picking on black looters & saving the supposed white ones...
like I said your reaching brother... take a rag, polish off the race card, stick it back in your pocket, and save it for the big bad white people another day...

They're both pretty much made out of the same ingredients

I always buy MORE beer than bread when preparing for Hurricanes

There were more but I didn't post them all. I found this on another site and just posted it here, it seemed to be getting a lot of attention.
I hardly ever bring out the race card and this is infact the 1st time Ive ever mentioned it on here. Im not trying to make a huge deal over it and I found some humour in it also. It just seemed interesting to me the way this stuff was worded, and I still feel that way. Its just something I was sharing with the rest of the forum, nothing more than that.
Like I said earlier there were more pictures also but I didnt want to post them all. I agree that bear and bread are different but in the 2nd picture the cat has some soda and a bag full of what seems to be regular food and they're labeled as a looters also.

This doesn't look like bread and water.

Maybe the people in the bottom picture found the bread just floating along, and in the top pictures, the people went into the stores?

I looked on the yahoo site and couldn't find any other "white" people with pictures looting... the looting in New Orleans is going on in only a small area of New Orleans, this area happens to be well bellow the poverty line and predominately black... The Governor of Louisiana was on CNN last night talking about the looters and the Governor said that it's understandable that people grab some food or water, because they've been without for a couple days... but taking anything else (games/videos/clothing etc) was a crime... they then panned to a wal-mart where yes, the majority of looters were black but there was one "white" guy who jumped on a shopping cart and rolled across the screen... so there not targeting black people... that just happens to be what the majority of the looters are...

if you meant it to be humorous, I apologize for jumping the gun... I just didn't find that in your title nor the

face at the end of your post...

your more than welcome to share whatever you want with the forum... but your gonna have to expect some negative feedback on a topic as sensitive such as race...

I don't know... I don't know what the kid has, or what color the writer was that wrote the comment... but to me it seems silly to make something out of nothing... I can manipulate the pictures too and say they're saving mostly black people and the white people are out somewhere dying... but I'm not going to do that...

Couldn't there be something better to loot than a bucket of beer? I'd be going for the Johnnie Walker Blue Label myself!!!

I saw that.. it was strange... I didn't know if they were looting or not but they were picking up stuff off the floor, examining it... and then putting it in the shopping cart...

............
Were they wheeling the shopping cart out of the store?
No really, I would hope that they were trying to save some essentials (bread, milk, etc.) to bring to a shelter or something. That would be so wrong if they were looting...

they had a shopping cart and were shopping for shoes! It was pretty obvious to me. The reporter confronted one about it and asked her what she was doing. She said she was doing her job running off looters. Looters that were everywhere. Looters that the reporter had been interviewing. It was kinda funny...but also pretty sad. I feel they should throw the book at those two. They should be helping in a bad situation, not making it worse. Great example they're setting.

CLL, thanks for the pics. This would make for some great material for well-known comics like Chris Rock, or Chappelle.
Even the whole "cop looters thing" would be funny as well.
Of course, funny a few years down the road, when the disaster has long been forgotten.

Very interesting, but I think race issues should be the least of anyones concerns right now. We are talking about the lives of humans no matter what race.

Yes, it says "from," not "in."

If I'm ever caught in disaster like New Orleans, I pray to God I have the courage to do what must be done to feed and clothe my wife and children. I know you would. So do you.
Try saving some of that anger for those who allowed the disaster to occur in the first place and then sat on their hands for days while people died.
Hurricanes are natural phenomenon whose effects we have the technology and means to control. This detruction of New Orleans was a political disaster caused by lack of preparation, execution, and concern.

The thing that kind of floors me about this whole situation is you know those companies especially the ones that are part of a bigger corparation are all going to write off the stuff these people are taking as a loss. So why not just let them have it. Let them have a bit of comfort or for that matter necessitity. I guess like everything else in life the media only tells you what they want you to hear. Stop worrying about taking pictures of the looters. Instead the camera people should have carried some food with their sorry asses and been handing it out. Photography is a tool to capture history but I'd like to think if I were ever in their shoes I'd want to help just as much as record.
