Hey, all:

Once again, I'm putting together a group e-mail list so anyone interested can get info on where to meet in a NYC bar for Redskins' games.

There are a few places we're considering. Last year we met at Q Lounge and had a great time there. I'm open to another place, especially if they give us a great deal (large screen w/ sound, cheap beer, etc.).

But we're strongly considering a new place that dedicated to the Skins (and UVA). I got in touch with the manager and here's his response...

I saw your posting regarding the game watches. I manage The Falls (www.thefallsnyc.com/) NFL/NCAA planning. We'll be showing all Redskins games with full sound on a projector and numerous flat screens. The difference between us and larger places like Park Ave Country Club is that we're dedicated to one team (UVA is our college affiliate, Redskins is our NFL). So....while we have the whole NFL package on DirectTV, our Sundays will be accomadated to the Redskins fans of NY.

You're more than welcome to come check out the venue and try the food. Just give me a heads up so I can show you around (ie - roll down the projector, etc). Below is a list of our Redskins specials and if you have any suggestions, I"m always open to them. We've had a good response so far, and I'm excited for the upcoming season.

Thanks,

Neil

Redskins Football Package
$10 Bud/Bud Light Pitchers
$15 Buckets of Miller Light (5 Bottles Per Bucket)
$4 mixed drinks
$5 Baskets of Buffalo Wings with Blue Cheese or BBQ Ribs
$20 Plate of twenty mini-burgers
**Weekly shot specials and halftime raffles

According to the manager, they'll even play "Hail to the Redskins" when we score.

If interested in hanging out in a bar DEDICATED to Skins' fan in NYC, PM me or leave your e-mail on this thread.

That's better than any place out here. Skins are ussualy relegated to a 13 inch set in the back corner of the bar near my home.

I live in DC but have a few friends who are 'Skins fans in NYC. Please report back once you definitely pin down a place so I can pass the information along to them.

Thanks

I live very near The Falls and can't tell you how glad I am to hear this. I'll definatley be there for our opener against the Bears if anyone else is down. I've been there to drink a number of times and I recommend it. Never watched a game there, but if they cater to Skins fans, I am all for it.

Awesome! I'm actually going to be in NY from the 9th to the 11th and I spent all day yesterday looking online for a place where I could watch the game!

The Falls is on Lafayette @ Spring St (SW corner). If you're taking subway, take the 6 to Spring or NR to Prince.

although i'm the one trying to put this all together, i may not be at the opening day game (may score fedex tix).

but i'll DEFINITELY be there for the MNF game on 9/18.

by the way, YES they will show other games. but the manager has told me repeatedly that it's a bar that caters to the skins on sundays (just re-read the e-mail). unbelievable....i've been in nyc for over 10 years and never knew this.

remember to pm your e-mails if interested in getting on the list for any changes and such.

I'll be staying in Manhattan (Times Square)this weekend, and I have never taken the subway anywhere. Looks like the Falls is where me, my wife, and her cousin will go.

Can anyone give clearer directions on how to get there? I am completely unfamiliar with the NYC subway system.

Lookin' forward to meeting up with some Skins fans in NYC.

If you're staying in Times Square, you can hop on the NR line (yellow) and take it to Prince Street. Then walk 2 blocks east and one block south. Or, take a cab. It'll be 10 bucks from Times Square. Just tell the driver you're going to Spring & Lafayette. You'll see the falls there.

Also, just FYI- The place has been out of control lately. One fan told me he felt like he was at RFK!

The Falls is just down the block (= south) from the Spring Street station on the #6...the Lexington Avenue local. You can get that from Grand Central Station. And there is a shuttle (grey 'S' sign) from Time Square to Grand central.

**

I went last week with my daughter and it was impossible to move breathe or sit down until some people gave up...with about five minutes left! Shoulder-to-shoulder.

The great thing is that every single TV is turned to the Redskins, and every person is a screaming Redskins fanatic. I'm willing to stand again, just to be in a place with all Skins people.

Redeemed, I would like to shake hands...in fact, I'd like to meet any HogsNet members, if that's possible.

I will be wearing a red Nat's hat. Maybe my autographed Killebrew jersey, because I don't have any Redskin jerseys or other paraphenalia. (My son had our family-owned Mark the Rypper and National Defense t-shirts, and my SB 22 Champion shirt disintegrated years ago...).

I'm the skinny late-50's guy with the white beard. Bald. Wire-rim glasses.

You guys, I know, are all the kids in your mid-20's. Uniformly young.

*

If you can buy a beer, or get something to eat, you're lucky. The poor owners must be losing money, because the crowd can't get to the bar to order. However...

Hail

 Wish I had seen this post BEFORE i left to NYC. #-o

Anyway, I made it to THE FALLS at the beginning of the second quarter, and IT WAS PACKED. My wife, her cousin and I stood at the end of the bar for the entire game.

If you saw a #17 Wuerffel Jersey next to a white #24, and a burgundy #8, you caught a glimpse of "TRO".

Actually, I ran into an old high school mate of mine while I was there. He was the first person I saw, and, automatically, I knew I was at the right place.

I met a guy from Uruguay (just HOW FAR does redskins fandom stretch???!!!!) toward the end, who approached me, and asked me how I'd heard about THE FALLS, and I said via THN. He was a really cool guy, and I'll definitely be staying in touch. He's gonna try to get tickets to the Skins game at the Meadowlands, and, if the price is right, we may go up there yet again. Woohoo!!!

Anyway, it was a great time. I led a rowsing chorus of "Hail to the Redskins", and, on the way home, my voice was spent. Good times all around.

Welch, I saw a guy with a Nats hat on, but, I believe it was blue. So, it might or might not have been you. (there were a lot of peeps there.

We will definitely be back in NYC for Christmas, so perhaps we can catch up then and shake hands, rub beards, or whatever we will need to do to get a win!!!! He he he.

Thanks for the info on the bar. It was a great time.

Oh, btw, I had no problem ordering food or beverages. The mini burgers were to die for!!!

Keep the faith NYC Skins fans, we're going to the playoffs!!!

I just realized, the guy I met is the one who posted this thread. Thanks, LaRou!!! You made a Skins fan visiting NYC for the weekend really proud.

Estaremos en contacto!!
