The Eagles / Ravens game just started and already there's an Eagle down (first play of the game - getting carted off). I have a feeling that's pretty much how this whole game is going to go. Should be interesting. I can't stand either team so I can't really "cheer" for anyone. But... it's football.

Philadelphia wide receiver Justin Jenkins sprained his right knee on the opening kickoff and was taken from the field on a cart. Jenkins is listed as Owens' backup on the depth chart.

I also saw that Akers got hurt. But I don't know how serious it is.
But I just saw some highlights of that game because I was watching the Raider game.
Now I know they were only playing Houston, but man they were dominating. And they only threw to Moss like 2 times! Then Doug Gabriel made one of the sickest catches I have ever seen. Now they just need a Defense.

Kearse got hurt at some point too, he's so brittle.

Yeah....Kearse and whoever #31 is...but they both "walked" off the field. That was all the first half too....I went to bed after that... who knows what happened the 2nd half.

did anyone catch the blocked field goal and runback at the end of the first half? it made me think that they need to revise the 'forward lateral' rule.
reed scooped up the ball, and, while sprinting downfield, tossed the ball back to mccallister, who was clearly behind him. but because of the speed at which they were moving, the ball actually traveled forward. it seemed like a silly call.

Yeah, that was a crazy play.
I think that they should keep the rule the same though because otherwise you could just chuck it very high and way forward so that some fast guy could run under it and get it. Then what happens if that pass hits the ground, would it be a live ball? You couldn't just throw it forward so that it rolls into the endzone and then some guy runs and picks it up for a TD even if he was behind the thrower when he chucked it.
Maybe they could do something like in rugby where you can only pass backwards but you can kick the ball forwards as long as the guy on your team that catches it was behind you when you kicked it - basically in that blocked kick return Ed Reed kicks it forward and Chris McCallister catches it. I was looking for an example of this but the only good one I saw was here:

If you choose the last video called "Sydney Test highlights" you can see what I mean in the last hgihlight of the game at about a minute and twenty-five seconds in. The guy kicks it forwards but then picks it up himself. I think that would be pretty entertaining.

HAHAHA, that game was so boring that Jamar(bestfriend), Jeremiah(his son, my godson) and I all fell asleep by halftime.

the difference is that reed threw the ball backwards relative to his position (albeit changing position). what you're talking about is the player throwing the ball forward relative to his position, which i agree would be an illegal forward lateral.
i just think that when the old fogeys made the forward lateral rule, they had no idea that some super fast guy might be able to create a forward lateral while throwing the ball backwards.
