I have a question, is anyone actually suprised by this? I am not. Can u imagine if the Redskins did go after him this offseason. Even though I didn't agree with what Gibbs did this offseason it could have been a lot wrose.

A lot of players do it all the time, I'm sure.
That's why it's hard to find role models in the NFL for kids these days.

I always find it amusing that pot is even on the list of banned substances. Last time I checked, it's not exactly performance enhancing.

True. However, it isn't good PR for the NFL to have a league full of potheads and they not do a thing about it.

Your performance with SFC (SNACK FOOD Consumption) is greatly enhanced.

Robert Smith doesn't seem to think its a huge deal--he said he did it all the time when he was with the vikes and he said people shouldn't be concerned about athletes smoke marijuana

What a breakthrough that Randy Moss smokes weed. I'm sure there are tons of Redskins who smoke it all the time.
Big deal.

The FBI, DEA, and other law enforcement officials certainly think it is. It's an illegal drug. Period.
A while back there was a PSA that said buying drugs/dope, etc. helps fund terrorist groups....
...so what if a "ton of Redskins" are lining the pockets of the next suicide bomber. Who cares, right?
Anyway you slice it, this kind of press is not good for the image of the "National" Football League.

You and I usually agree on a lot of issues but this isn't one of them. Buying pot isn't lining any torrorist poskets. Its lining the pocket of some 35 year old lawyer with lots of spare closet space!
Besides drugs money is only lining the pockets of terrorists because we have created a market for drugs and driven up the prices!

Yeah it does, that is how Osma makes most of his money. The drug industry. On the history channel they even said Pot and Opium r his two biggest money making industries. The histroy channel is a hell of a lot more reliable than news media outlet.

I love how everyone on this board talks about character and how important it is. But when I bring up a player smokes pot they say "oh its no big deal"

I know that opium, and cocaine are things that are often produced and sold by terrorists. I didn't know that about pot though. When I went to college it seemed like every third dorm room had a closet garden full of pot. I wouldn't have guessed that Pot was an international terrorist thing anymore. If this is correct then I was wrong!

Unless the History channel is lying, than it is. Can say what they want, but its against the law. You can say its a bogus law, but its still the law.

I'm not trying to be an apologist for Marijuana. But it seems to me that if we were so concerned with terrorist profiting from pot then we would take the demand out of thier market. Its a complicated issue, and while I dont want people to be able to buy heroin at their local RiteAid, I can't agree with our draconian drug laws either.

I can tell you that I have seen a lot at work that says marijuana is not looked at as a serious drug. Just one example that I can cite, being busted with pot is a misdemeanor, however, possession of ANY other drug, including prescription pain killers that you do not have a prescription for are all felony charges. There are other examples but to me this shows the biggest flaw. Government cannot have it both ways. Either it's a drug or it's not a drug. Technically alcohol is a drug (a mind altering substance) how does that not carry the same stigma as pot. It's because pot isn't legal. I'm not saying I support the legalilization of the drug, I'm just saying that if they expect people (pro atheletes as an example) to treat marijuana as an illegal drug, perhaps they should do the same. The non chalant attitude about it is exactly the attitude our government has on it!

The gov. should just legalize it, tax it, and make a bunch of money in the process. It is easier for kids to get weed then it is to get alcohol. If it is legalized I would think there would be less drug dealers selling weed.
