Team Value1 $ 1.1 bil (#1)

The Washington Redskins
are owned by Daniel Snyder,
who bought them in 1999
for $750 mil.

Player-costs-to-win ratio 7 53
2003 Coach Steve Spurrier

The skinny
By hiring former Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs to take over as coach this season, team owner Dan Snyder essentially admitted that he can't run the business part of the franchise and make player personnel decisions at the same time. Since paying $750 million for the team and its stadium in 1999, Snyder has been brilliant at maximizing stadium and sponsorship revenues. But his meddling in the football team itself has resulted in a shoddy team, a bloated payroll and turmoil among coaches and players. With Gibbs at the helm, the Redskins may become as successful on the field as they have been off of it.

Sometime late last year the Washington Redskins were regarded (by various financial publications) as the # 1 sports franchise in the world. I believe # 2 was/is the Manchester United soccer team and next was Real Madrid. Even the hated NY Yankees is a more valued franchise than the even more hated Jones boys!

Number 1? Now that's impressive. You guys ever seen a Man. United game? Those fans are crazy, kinda like 100,000+ hogs all jumping and singing at one time.
