Will Gibbs be as patience this year?

I know PR is our starter, and I hope he flourishes under center this year. However one of the things Gibbs was most criticized for last year was not pulling Brunell fast enough. So my question is do you see Ramsey having a shorter leash this year than Brunell dii last year?

All I know is that Brunell looked umpteen times better than Ramsey did in yesterday's game and I'm not sure if thats a good thing

Any time that one of our players looks good is a good thing.

Patrick Ramsey vs First team defense

First team / Second Team has nothing to do with over or underthrowing open receivers, and that is what Ram did last night.

I hope he does well too, but the defense was not the problem for him last night, he overthrew Patten and Moss twice, and badly underthrew Moss on that interception.

I absolutely hated Brunnell last year, and he hasn't changed my mind in less than a game, but the First Team Second Team excuse is not all that good. Sure he was playing against backups, but he was also playing with our backups.

It doesnt matter what team defense is out there. If a receiver is open against a first team or 3rd team the ball should be there. Both quarterbacks had time to throw the ball and both had times where receivers were wide open. What we need to look at was how they looked in the pocket. How crisp and accurate the throws were.

IT WAS THE FIRST PRESEASON GAME. THE SCRIMMAGE DOESNT COUNT.

Im sure emotions were running high. Lets talk about the Clinton Portis run where he fell down after 3 yards. Ladell Betts went off after that. Should Betts be considered a starter. Just my opinion. Ramsey needs to go back and work this week. Extra work but he still is the starter in my eyes.

Interesting game last night. Ramsey didn't look so good  , Brunell looked better :? , Campbell, not even a resonable mention  , Broughton looked like he should have been the starting back :D . I realize it is only the 1st preseanson game but jeeese, I hope it gets better. :?:

Was there another Redskins game on last night that I missed? Campbell was poised, threw some great passes and marched the team down the field on a great drive that, were it not for Combs fumble on the goal line, would have resulted in seven points.

Sure it was all against camp foddr, but I thought he looked really good myself.

Yeah, I thought Campbell was excellent. He had so much command in the huddle it seemed, and he was so aware.

On draft day, I was kind of iffy on Campbell, but now I know if Ramsey fails, our future is bright with JC.

Ive gotta admit I wasnt necessarilly fired up about what I saw from Ramsey lastnight, but I definately noticed an increased level of comfort from him in the huddle and the small portion of the offense Gibbs wanted to show.

I was very happy with the play of the offensive line as a whole, and the running backs impressed me greatly, especially Neamiah Broughton, who is by all counts a MONSTER.

The preseason doesnt mean everything but it does mean something. The offense NEEDS to show improvement.

We have been saying "calm down" since 1991. Although they don't need to look like world beaters the starter have to show improvement. I thought most of the starters played well and I was impressed. The only starter that did not show up was Ramsey.

It doesnt matter what team defense is out there :?: If that is the case then why dont the Falcons just bench Vick now and hand the ball over to Schaub now. He looks very impressive against that second and third team defense. Maybe he'll be a pro bowler against the first teamers since it doesn't matter. The Falcons may be making a big mistake, just like the redskins if they don't bench Ramsey.

Although, getting away from sarcasm for a few moments, I DO agree that Ramsey overthrew/underthrew a couple of passes. But it is the FIRST preseason game, who cares. Even Peyton Manning has thrown a couple of ugly passes this preseason. Now if Ramsey start out in the first four games and only has 2 TD's with 9 INT's and a 50% completion percentage then it is time to hit the panic button. But until then, a lot of people need to relax because it was the first preseason game in which Gibbs doesn't run anything close to his actual offense anyway.

Not only does he suck but he's scared. I think Spurrier ruined him. Ramsey took a beating in that system. I don't know if Gibbs can fix him. Sersiously when he stands in the pocket he looks like a dog thats taken one to many beatings.
Instead of looking for open receivers he is hopping around waiting to get hit. Ramsey has played in to many games to be acting like this. Why is it over the last 13-14 years whenever the Skins name a guy the starting QB they act like they've never played the position before. Everyone except Brad Johnson in 99' that is.

I think Pat will be ok but it may take him a little time. Coach is paitent but he will not wait very long into the season to make a switch if things don't go well.

I think that we're trying to make a QB controversy out of all of this. When, the simple fact of the matter is we have to be concerned with how Ramsey plays, period. Forget about Brunell or Campbell for a while, and we should focus solely on what Ramsey can or can't do. I think Gibbs will give him every chance to succeed, but if he can't cut it, then he'll have no choice but to go to a backup. My question is not so much will Gibbs have the patience, but will those same fans that were booing Brunell last year have the cojones to boo Ramsey this year if he does equally as bad as Brunell did last year. Will they have the cojones to boo Ramsey AND Brunell and want a Rookie QB to come in and start when there's still a mathematical chance of making the playoffs? I hated everything about Brunell last year, but I always said it was a dangerous thing to boo him as loudly as the fans did last year. My feeling is that I'll support whoever the coach puts in there. But, I bet in Gibbs' mind there is no controversy. We're the ones creating the controversy.

Of course they'll boo him JP, they booed him at times last year.
