Hey! I'm currently out of town and was not able to catch a tv screen which showed the game. So, I need your help!
What are your feelings after the first game? Does the offense need some extensive work? Did the defense seem to be better/worse/the same as last year?

How did Santana and David do? D-Mac? Ramsey, Brunell, Campbell? ... I was reading the article on redskins.com and from there it seems like Brunell was clearly the best Redskin quarterback there. ](*,) (Though Campbell seemed to have executed well also.) Did Campbell run on any plays? Were you impressed in what he produced? I believe he had a 30 yard pass to someone...was it nice? So Ramsey stunk it up, huh? What are the reasons? (Excuses) Was Ramsey the only on to throw a INT in the game?

I'm guessing yall are going to say it was going to be a closer game if we actually had a second CB on the field. (Jimoh) How did STaylor play? Did he have any hard hits, INTs, deflectoins...??

How was special teams? Did ABrown have any dazzling returns? Was Santana back there? JThrash? How was the punting?

Were there any injuries?
----------

Man, I wish I'd recorded the game somehow! If anyone has a clip of highlights/lowlights please post! I'm anxious to see your replies!
Thanks,
-HatsOFF

You have alot of questions.......I'll try to answer them all.

Ramsey did not look comfortable in the pocket......Well, let me say that he was constantly tapping his feet and tapping the ball before he threw it. His first deep pass was all jacked up. It was about a 50 yard bomb, but he under threw that ball BIG TIME! It was an interception.

Brunnel came in against the 2nd string defense with about 25 seconds to go in the first half and he got us a field goal :) I don't know if I should be happy about that, but he did make our offense look good. Just as long as Patrick starts on opening day........thats what matters right now.

Campbell looked good....REAL GOOD. At least I thought so. That dude definetly has some good potential.

Our offense has alot of work to do!

Sean Taylor did play, but he was not like he was last year.........I'll let someone else tell you about the blocked field goal. I don't think I could tell it as good as some of the other posters on here. :)

I actually thought the game was alright. The 'Skins obviously weren't great, or even that close to it, but it's the preseason. I enjoyed watching all our new guys and there were some impressive performances although there is still a lot this team has to work on.

I wouldn't say that our offense needs "extensive" work but Ramsey has to perform a lot better. The O-line looked pretty good. They protected pretty well and on at least a few plays they opened up some massive holes. If Portis was in there I have no doubt that he could have had some BIG plays. Portis, BTW, looks huge! I think he only played one play but he looks completely different, I almost didn't recognize him. He has put on a lot of muscle in his upper body! Offense needs to improve but I think we can definately be better than we were last year.

Ironically, it was the D that really did us in. As much as I love the guy, Jimoh sucks more than ever. He whiffed twice on sacks when he blitzed and Gardner and Delhomme had a field day going up against him. Our CBs were absolutley horrible and we never even looked like stopping their 1st OR 2nd string offense. I have no doubt that if we can get our secondary healthy our defense will be considerably better.

Can't really comment on the starting WRs because of Ramsey's inconsistency but I think if Ramsey had gotten the ball to Moss on the play with the int he would have been off to the races as he had completely beaten the coverage. I was a little concerned though about Ramsey. Not his performance per say (even though he wasn't sharp it was just one game, big deal) but the way he put his body on the line. On the FIRST DRIVE Gibbs called a QB sneak on 3rd and 1 from like the 'Skins 30yd line or something. Why would you do that? Is Gibbs maybe trying to get him hurt. Later Ramsey took off out of the pocket and picked up a couple yards but then got sandwiched by two Panthers! Jeez, what are we thinking, it's the preseason and we're just letting our Qb get teed up on?! Strange thinking there and a little scary I thought.

Don't be upset that Brunell played well. He looked NOTHING like the player we saw last year. Physically speaking, he seems like a new player. He looked mobile and he really zipped in a few nice passes. He didn't look like the crippled old man throwing with his wrong arm like he did last year. He also looked confident and collected but this is not saying much as he was playing backups. Still, it was very encouraging to see that a healthy Brunell still has some athleticism out there.

I don't know about what others thought but I thought Campbell was extremely impressive! He was the highlight of the game for me. I had seen him play at Auburn but everyone was always so focused on Williams and Brown I never really paid that much attention to him. He can really throw a beautiful ball. Let me tell you, he can make ALL the throws! His accuracy and ability to lead the reciever are both very impressive. He put the ball on the money and where only the reciever could get it even when it looked like there was pretty good coverage. What's more, his WRs never had to break stride at all. After watching the display of talent that he put on I began to understand why Gibbs thinks we can get away with so many small recievers. I can see Campbell and Moss, Patten, and Jacobs being lethal combinations given his ability to lead his recievers. He has incredible touch on his passes and his numbers should have been considerably better. On one play he made a nice throw but the reciever fell down and Combs dropped two passes, the second of which led to the int. His RBs also fumbled twice. Not sure if these fumbles may have been his fault though. Physically he was also impressive, he ceratinly is a big guy (definately in the Roethlesburger-type mold and as tall but not as beefy as Culpepper) and he made some nice plays rolling out of the pocket even when he had to move to his left. The guy is an athlete. OK, so this was all aginst guys who are mostly getting cut but IMO Campbell is without a doubt the real deal! I am very excited to have this guy but you can't draw too many conclusions from preseason games particularly in the 4th quarter.

None of the QBs looked GREAT out there but the backups definately looked good. I feel like we have some nice depth at QB and that is always a good thing.

A few other notes -- Clemons and Boschetti blocked a FG and Taylor picked it up, ran across half the field and then lateralled to Bowen who ran with it and then attempted another lateral which ended up being a forward pass. It was a crazy play and it's hard to explain but they showed it on Sportscenter. Boschetti also knocked down two Delhomme passes in the game to go with his blocked FG. A. Brown looked impressive at WR and Dyson made some nice plays too although both guys were up against back-ups. Still, nice to see them make some plays. Finally, Nemo had a great game. He ran the ball nicely on the TD scoring drive and he made a good tackle on special teams. It was nice to see that.

I guess overall we were pretty raw and we didn't manage to put up points but it was interesting nonetheless. I am looking forward to seeing what the team can do with some healthy CBs, Portis, and more consistency at QB. Nice to see the young guys do some things too.

was it realy as bad as it looked???

I know , its the first preseason game. We are not to panic yet. Well I did. PRAM what the heck was that???? Couldnt do poop against thier second stringers???? I know he can play better than that. It was like he was scared to be there?? where is the confidence from last year, for exple. vikings game?? I now understand Gibbs when for the life of me I couldnt last season. Keeping Boonell in was ripping my soul out!!! I never thought I would see PRAM make him look good!!! I just hope it was a bad first impression they will settle down. The only thing I saw good was O-line and Running game and a few standouts in second and third units. First string sucked (other than o-line.)

Don't even think of getting worried over preseason.

Gibbs preseason record:
- 29 – 24 – 2 = 54.7%

Norval's preseason record:
- 17 – 14 – 1 = 54.8%

Andy Reid's preseason record:
- 11 – 12 = 47.8%

So, what does this tell you about good coaches and preseason?
