Jim Molinaro

I'm trying as hard as I can not to gush about a lineman that is virtually buried on our depth chart but this guy has impressed me each and every day. Mark Wilson may have been drafted before him but hasn't shown me the same progression of skills.

He has amazing feet for a guy his size and I think has huge potential.

I've mentioned it in a few reports but this guy has just been so impressive to me that I thought he deserved his own thread.

That's good to hear, but isn't he a tackle? With Jansen and Samuels locking down both spots will they move Molinaro to guard? Or have they already?

He's listed in the depth chart 2nd string behind Samuels at LT.

rarely does an entire offesive line stay healthy all year long... so having guys like him improve and hopefully serve as a quality back-up/future hog is always a plus....

Is he going to find his spot on the practice squad though until we need him? Or is there room on the actual roster for him?

Maybe it's just me but I hate seeing guys who work their asses off end up on the practice squad.

He'll be opn the roster. We'll probably carry 9 O-linemen.

My predictions:

Jansen
Thomas
Rabach
Dockery
Samuels
Friedman
Raymer
Molinaro
Brown

I agree with the list JF posted 100%.

Wilson is the one that will struggle to make the roster and perhaps be looking for a PS spot IMO. He's struggled at times at camp.

SF55... read what I wrote... "I'm trying as hard as I can not to gush about a lineman that is virtually buried on our depth chart," so yeah, it'll be tough behind Samuels and JJ.

Will he move to guard? He definitely could... he's played there before. Another reason that Wilson is at a disadvantage.

Personally I'd like to see the Redskins give JM some time at both tackle positions. JJ is 'The Rock' but he's coming off a very serious injury and to me Molinaro would be our next best fit, although it's hard not to goo and gah about the 'old guy' Ray Brown... or as we affectionately call him... the freak... because it's just wrong to play on the offensive line when you're 42 years old. I also heard yesterday that Brown is the most flexible player on the team bar none... an offensive lineman!!!

But this is about Molinaro.

When he blew up Sean Taylor this week I nearly urinated in my own pants.

Strong, quick, and obviously from his quick improvement, he's soaking up Bugel's tutelage like a sponge.

This guy could virtually platoon at all positions on the line with the exception of perhaps center. A very valuable tool and one that I hope we can keep interested while we wait to see if Dockery can step up and play a little better. If DD can't step up this year, Friedman and Molinaro could both see time at left guard.

Yeah, so I wonder if Molinaro will challenge Dockery at some point...

I like Mark Wilson a lot though...

Is there any way we could release Lenny Friedman? Isn't he paid quite a bit?

Why cut a guy that can back up the entire interior line. I'd be surprised to see it... especially considering he carries a very minimal cap hit ($656k and I believe he qualifies for the veteran cap relief meaning it's only 450k+25k)

And like I said, Wilson has struggled some and against second and third string ends.

Not to mention Friedman was being used as a blocking TE in some packages, according to the Post. So, he can definitely back everyone up.

one question for you BH: can he keep still until the ball is snapped? i dont know if he got many reps in 11-on-11 drills, but if he did, could he stay put? everyone knows we struggle mightily with that every year, (think eagles, 4 and goal from around the 40) and if he can do it, i definitely think he can challenge for dockery's job. coincidentally, dockery is one of the major jumpers on the line as well, so it might becoem interesting
