Go ahead and change your login name while you've only got 17 posts.
We're 1 week into the pre-season. Settle down a bit. There is a month of pre-season games, the team should come together by September.
None of the scrimmages looked good, the Green Bay/Buffalo game was a snoozer.
Looking forward to your thoughts next Saturday evening.

Honestly I didn't see anything today that makes me think Campbell could make a difference in there. If at some point you see Campbell in there it's going to be a season sacrificed for his experience.

I'm 100% behind Jason Campbell as a Redskins fan and Auburn alum. I'm 100% against him playing this year because it would be unfair to Patrick Ramsey and unfair to a rookie quarterback who needs at least a year with a clipboard in his hand. Get behind Ramsey because he is the quarterback and he needs all the confidence and support we can give him.

I agree with Coachkyle 100%
I changed the color of this post so our resident Ramsey Hater wouldn't miss it.

Campbell will take far more than one year to be starter material -if he ever is. When I saw him play in a game last college season, he wasn't good -the only thing that could be said for him was that he wasn't throwing interceptions. Jason was a one year wonder, and shouldn't have been taken in the first, or probably even second, because this next draft looks like they could get a great QB if they hadn't traded away the pick (and if your Readskins do well enough that they would not be able to, they wouldn't have needed a QB since that would mean Ramsey was doing well).

Ramsey won't be going anywhere next year unless the team lets him go, so there is know rush with Campbell. That being said I don't think it will take more than a year with Gibbs and Musgrave. You say you watched a college game last season ( which game? Are you basing your whole post on 1 game?) Regardless of which game it was he came out on top, that was his task.

haha yea iknow guys i wasnt really bein serious. look at my username. I still have FULL confidence in Ramsey, but i also think Campbel's progression and play will be veru interesting.
the one thing that does bother me is that Gibbs has told Ramsey he is the starter, he is the starter, BUT he drafts a quarterback in the FIRST round. I know he is a guy who has had TWO good QBs way back in the 80s, but do u really use ure FIRST round pick on one? Especially Campbell, because this is the thing that worries me about him- ho struggled for three seasons at Auburn and was projected to go undrafted when his senior season began. He then led the Tigers to a 13-0 season and earned a reputation as an unflappable competitor. Was he a one hit wondeR?
Also anyone, i doubt anyone would, but i hope no one thinks that Ramsyes performance in camp meens much. he has always been a good practice performer. Ramsey is got to harness his good skills and improve his decision-making for the team to win. With more pressure then ever with Campbell behind him, he may play very well.
as usual with the skins, WHO KNOWS.

I have the fullest intentions of jumping on the Campbell bandwagon....in one to two years, when he becomes our starter. Only, then, I won't be "jumping on the bandwagon," because I have already expressed my support for him, before he shows us what he's made of.
Patrick Ramsey is our starter. With a solid O-line, a good combination of passes and runs, and better looks at his receivers, he is fully capable of running this offense succesfully.

ure way too optimistic. Even as a ramsey fan i cant say that ramsey is going to play well. I will never EVER make predictions on the skins ever again just because u never know with them.

I'm not sure I understand your position here...
You started the thread by criticizing Ramsey; then you said you weren't being serious, and that you think he could do well. Now you're saying you don't know if he will play well.
I agree with you about making predictions - it holds true with all facts of life - one never knows for sure what will actually happen.
My point is that: 1) Ramsey is obviously not the
superstar (and likely will never be) who can lead a team to success all by
himself, 2) Many pieces of the puzzle must fall into place at the same time - pass protection, good receiver routes, healthy mix of short/long run/pass plays, opponent defense recognition, and Ramsey's own ability to adapt to each play as it unfolds, and 3) If Ramsey works/practices hard physically and mentally (which he does), he has the talent to be a great quarterback if all the pieces fall into place.
I'm not predicting that Ramsey will win us 10 or 12 games this year, but I think if the Skins improve the other areas, we could see Ramsey play better than he has in the past.
It seems like our O-line can definately improve this year - if guys stay healthy, eliminate all the stupid false start penalties, and block well to avoid sacks and holding penalties. Ramsey should gain confidence, become more comfortable in the pocket, and make better decisions.
Ramsey's got to get off to a good start, though. Something like a 3-1 start would probably get his confidence up - and we all know what
confidence enables athletes to do.
Other than that, I hope our receivers work their routes well - with each other, and with Ramsey. So far, that's the only major concern I have.

I like Campbell too, but like anyone else we'll have to see what he can do come preseason at least before we can pass any judgments

Patrick Ramsey deserves the support and loyalty of the staff, players and fans. I would have hoped that this was a board with mature enough fans to give our QB a decent chance.
Hate to see some guys going wherever the wind blows on a certain day. Sheeeeesh guys! Remember Patrick Ramsey who put the Vikes and the Gints away?!
You want perfect timing and execution and we do not even have a group of starters at WR, several of which are NEW!!!
I would hate to be Patrick Ramsey and come to this board to read some of the unwarranted criticism. I am REALLY beginning to feeel a bit "uncomforable" with this crap from some "fans".

Remember those teams in Pa. that he didn't beat, but didn't back down from either. He grew alot in those games and that growth helped produce the aboved mentioned wins. Hopefully he is still growing - because he was starting to show something late in the year.

Ramsey has just got to trust his arm. He has like one of the best deep ball arms in the league, but last year he didn't seem confident and only threw those little 3 and out passes.
But 1nik is right, by the end of last season his confidence was up, and so was his game. And now that the coaches have his back, his confidence should go way up. Which will ultimately improve his descion making and ability.

yea i am not sure if he will play well. Sadly the guy hasnt proven to much. he played well at the end of the year, yes he did. I am a huge ramsey fan. I wasnt being serious about criticizing ramsey, it was a crimmage for heavens sake. I think he will do well, but I JUST DONT KNOW! It is very hard to judge a young QB who has shown glimpses of playing very well, and then not played so well, and then you have a coach drafting a QB in the first round. No matter what the circumstances are, you dont go out and draft a QB with one of ure first round picks when u have a still young QB. It really shows that Gibbs may not have confidence in this guy. Plus last year he brought in Brunell. So yes, i am unsure if he will play well because he has not been consistantly good, at the end of the year he played well, and if i made a prediction now i would say he is going to play great, but when a hall of fame coach seems not exactly sure about him, it is hard to be very optimistic.
I would think many fans here would agree that it is hard to say what is going to happen. Every year the 'Skins look like a playoff team, and lately, well, they haven't. I can only hope that this year is the year that it all comes together, even though i have been told my the players anc coachs that this year "is the year" for the last 5 years now. But for the first time in two years, i am going to say they WILL play well. Last year i remember all the players sayin this was the year, etc., and have heard that for a while now, but really, i think this year really is. Our coaches have got it figured out, th chemistry on the team is better then it used to be, and our playbook complements our TYPE of players.
