Favorite Redskins Possession

I was just going through some of my old sports memorabila and I found few old memories that sparked a question. What is your most prized Redskins possession?
I found a few things that may trigger a few memories for a few fans. Some of these things were the yellow seat pad that was given out at a playoff game with the Falcons ( many made it onto the field), a 16x16 square felt WTOP banner (another game gift), a 50th aniversary coke bottle, a Wheaties Box, with the Washington Redskins 1992 SuperBowl XXVI Champs. My most prized Redskins possession is a Football signed by several members of the 1992 SuperBowl Team. Some of the names on the ball are Green, Mann, Lachey, Jacoby, Clark, Rypien, Byner, Ervins, Bostic, Monk, Gouveia.

I have a lot of photos of Jackson with various players, and my autographed Jon Jansen jersey is most excellent, but other than that, the only memerobilia I get is for my son. He has a football signed by Pat Fischer, Roy Jefferson, Mike Bragg, Ravin Caldwell, Dmac and several others that's pretty cool.
My dad has all the wheaties championship boxes, and some coke bottles I believe.

I don't have as nice things as you all do, but I do have something. You probably saw a picture of two of them, yes...I'm talking about my signed hats. I have about 6-7 autographed Redskin hats hanging up in my room.
Bruce Smith, CBailey, FSmoot, LArrington, RThomas, DBreaux, JGibbs.......and the list goes on!

I live in western KY so the Skins games I went to watch were all road games. When I was in college I saved up enough money to "road trip" to D.C. to see D. Green's last game. I bought the program for that game that was in honor of Green and I bought a big foam finger. Both are very prized to me.

Hey BossHog, maybe instead of posting here, you should do an article on your collection.
Might be easier to read that way.

Oh man, I don't mean to brag but the list goes on and on. Most of the possessions are memories.
- I have over 600 autographed cards.
- A collection of 30 Redskins jerseys.
- About 10 hats filled with autographs.
- A ball thrown to me in the stands by Jeff George DURING a training camp practice. He signed the ball for me after practice.
- When Champ was a rookie, he signed both sides of the jersey that I just got, and snuck me two gloves he used during practice and signed them.
- I have many gloves and towels signed by players from years past.
- Tre Johnson gave me a bandana he used during practice at a training camp in the mid 90's. Don't remember which year. It was soaked with sweat. I have never washed it. It still has black mold all over it.
- During my first year I went to camp (1992), I was standing with my back to the locker rooms at Carlisle becuase my mom was taking a picture of me. It was after practice and players were walking to the locker rooms. Then Kurt Gouveia sneaks up behind me and scares the crap out of me. He felt really bad and gave me his practice jersey and let me in the locker room with him to see the other defensive players.
- During that same camp, I kept bothering Jeff Bostic all game by saying hi to him the whole time. "Hey Jeff Bostic! Hey Jeff Bostic!" Finally after practice I run up to him for an autograph (I was small enough to sneak under the chain-linked fence) and he gave me his practce jersey, and posed for a picture with me.
- In 1998, punter Lance Anderson and kicker Scott Blanton were on a seperate field practicing punts. Lance letme on the field to help him catch punts. I don't know if I caught any but it was a blast despite dodging a million misquitoes.
- The year the Redskins signed Dana Stubblefield (1998), there was a rumor reported in the local media that he slept in his dorm with a teddy bear. So I thought it would be a brilliant idea to buy him a Redskin bear from the Frostburg State school store. Unfortunately they didn't have a male bear of any form so I had to buy him a cheerleader bear.
I told Fox 5's Bret Haber about this and he loved it. So when Dana came out to walk to lunch after getting dressed after practice, he interviewed Dana while they were taping me giving him the bear. I told him about the rumor I heard and he saw the bear and went nuts.

He nearly killed Bret and the cameraman. He kept asking Bret "did you put him up to this?" Bret just backed off with his hands in the air laughing. Dana wasn't happy with the bear either. He said "Man, this is a girl bear."
- During camp in 2000, I had a card of John Jefferson that I was looking to get signed. Jefferson played for the Chargers, Packers, and Browns during the late 70's to the mid 80's.
I kept asking people if they knew where he was and when he finally was walking back to the building, I asked if he was John Jefferson. There wasn't a pic of him in the media guide, so I didn't know what he looked like. He said jokingly "I used to be." I asked him if he would sign my card and he gladly obliged.
I was sitting on a bench by the gate the whole time. I didn't care about practice. I just wanted autographs. He went back to his office in Redskins Park and came out a little while later. He saw me and called me over. He had a big envelope and gave it to me. I opened it and it was an autographed cover of Sports Illustrated dated August 20th, 1979. Who was on the cover? None other than John, himself. I felt pretty special that day.
- During the Skins game at Dallas in 1999, the late Dan Turk gave Deion a vicious hit on a punt return.
The Redskins were slated to play the Bears on Halloween at FedEx Field, which was one week after the Dallas game. My mom, my friend, and I went to the game. Before the game, we saw Dan Turk. I called him over. He gave my friend and I his wristbands and autographed them both. I also thanked him for his hard hit on Deion and in Redskin fashion, he replied "I didn't hit him hard enough."
This was a little over a year before he passed away. I still have the wristband and it will always mean a lot to me. Dan was a true class act. Rest in Peace Dan.

I have a football and a couple of nfl wristbands and a gatorade towel that a buddy of my father-in-law's swiped from/around Brad Johnson's locker (he works on the sidelines during the games -- one of the 'blue' coat guys). {I'll tell you sometime about how I got snuck into the stadium, past security, into the visiting teams locker room and out onto the field at FedEx one time...it's a long story and will have to wait} Also have a coke bottle from the SuperBowl year they beat Miami ('83? I was just a kid)...that's pretty cool...I'm sure the Coke inside is just yummy right now.
Besides that, I've got an autographed, game used Joe Jacoby jock strap....nah, just kidding there.

My favorite possessions are the memories of winning:
Riggins busting loose for a score and lead in the SB.
Darrell Green hurdling a would-be tackler on a punt return at Soldier Field and jogging into the endzone for a score in a playoff game. Larry Centers jogging into the endzone in San Fran to clinch a playoff spot. Dave Butz's helmet........I'll leave room here for the memories that this season will bring.

A Skins teddy bear I bought for my son when he was born. On his first birthday I took the teedy bear to a bakery and asked for a cake to be decorated just like it. Also a pinata was made just like the teddy bear.

I like your favorite possession Terri, I think it's cool. So

Jake!
I have two. My first is actually a picture of Jackson but it's in a Redskins frame. Jackson was only 5lbs 11 oz when he was born and he was 19 1/2 inches long so he was tiny! Scott's mom had bought him a little Redskin's outfit and it was so huge we had to roll the sleeves and pant legs up. It was so cute though. The picture is of him in that outfit on a Redskins blanket only a few days old. It's my favorite personal item that is Redskin's related.
We also have this little Christmas figurine thing that Scott's Grandmother gave us. It's 4 little elves painting and making toys. All Redskin's and football related. It's very unique and we have to keep it up very high because Jackson loves it. But I leave it out all year just because I cannot imagine boxing up something Redskins just because it's Christmas related.
