Ive heard somewhere that in a car, you should always be consistent in the type of gas you give it, like regular or whatever, or if you give it one type for a while and start giving it different it will ruin the engine. Well I just bought a used car at about 40,000 miles, and I was thinking about that. Should I just give it 87? or what, it is a 2000 Honda Civic EX, thanks for the help if anyone knows

I'm no expert, but from what I know that's a bunch of bologne. I would simply use the cheapest stuff - which actually gives you the best gas mileage. Every so often, if you wanted to, I might put in the most expensive stuff once every month or two. This burns hotter and faster than regular gasoline and some say this can help clean out some of your engine parts.

Some cars' converters require premium gas. Read the manual. It always helps.

But even if you can get away with cheaper gas, the most important concern should be -regular- maintenance. Did you check the engine oil today?

Burn what the manual says. Id guess that you can put regular in there. Putting a higher octane will not boost your performance, it may actually make you get worse mileage. Throwing in the wrong octane throws off the air fuel mixture thus not allowing your car to burn the gas efficiently.

I wish I was putting 87 in my car... Its all about that 94 baby!
