NFC - Preseason Rankings

Unlike last year, the status of Terrell Owens doesn't shape the top of the NFC's preseason rankings. With the conference so weak, and the Eagles so deep in talent and experience, even a protracted holdout or trade of Owens couldn't knock them from the top spot.

That's a testament to the Eagles' front office, which has been at the forefront of player development and salary-cap management over the last few years. But it's also an indictment on the rest of the NFC, where poor drafts, age and free agency have robbed the strength from many teams. In fact, the conference has become so thin that a ranking of the NFL's top 15 teams would arguably include only four from the NFC Philadelphia, Atlanta, Minnesota and Carolina.

While the conference does have some teams with impressive potential (Detroit, Arizona and Chicago), Philadelphia easily lords over the here-and-now in the NFC.

NFC PRESEASON RANKINGS

Philadelphia 1.

Atlanta Falcons 2.

Minnesota 3.

Carolina 4.

Seattle 5.

Dallas 6.

Green Bay 7.

Detroit 8.

St. Louis 9.

Arizona 10.

New Orleans 11.

Tampa Bay 12.

Washington 13.

N.Y. Giants 14.

Chicago 15.

San Francisco 16.

IMO, Redskins are a better team than this predictions.

The Cowboys, Seahawks, and Lions are too high.

The Redskins and Saints are too low.

I think the Vikes are a little overrated too. They kind of need to prove they can win without Moss in my book.

Hmmmm.....1-4...OK I'll buy that for PRESEASON rankings....15-16....yea....I agree...but 5-14 looks like he used a lottery drawing to make his picks. Dallas 6th....based on what? Certainly not their margin of defeat last year. Arizona 10, probably because of Dennis Green....So why not some respect for a Joe Gibbs coached team? I don't see Seattle at 5th, either.

Again, if we take the first two games this year...enjoy the Dallas win for two weeks while preparing for Seattle at home in our 3rd game, and we are 3-0. Then, this dudes rankings will be all blown apart by week 4 of the NFL season.....yahoo!!

Chicago has impressive potential but is the 15th worst team in the conference? Way to contradict yourself there buddy. It's just idiotic to have such bias against the redskins. We have a pretty good offensive line, CLINTON PORTIS, and a great defense. How in the world could you not at least rank us middle of the pack in the conference? That just shows a blatant disregard for reality. Putting Dallas in 6th(LMAO) and the skins in 14th just proves that this guy is a cowboys fan in some regard...

Scottskins....I agree ("Putting Dallas in 6th(LMAO) and the skins in 14th just proves that this guy is a cowboys fan in some regard..."). I thought I smelled a cowboy fan when I read it the first time.

I hear you that the 'Skins are underrated, but IMHO the Saints haven't developed a consistent offense yet. Well, who are we to talk though? This is the year that all changes!

I like the moves the Saints made on their offensive line, bringing in Mayberry and drafting Brown. That's a very talented team and they were playing very well at the end of last season, which is usually a good indication of how they'll do the following year.

I'd definitely put them ahead of Dallas.
