7/22- Redskins safety Sean Taylor will report on time for the start of training camp July 31, agent Drew Rosenhaus said. Taylor, who is facing felony assault charges in Florida, has not talked to the media in more than six months, and while the Redskins have expected him to attend camp, there had been no public assurances from him.

"Oh, yes, without a doubt," said Rosenhaus, when asked in a phone interview yesterday whether Taylor would report on time. Taylor, the fifth overall pick in the 2004 draft, has switched agents several times and expressed concern with the contract he signed last summer, leading many to believe his desire for more money fueled his decision to boycott Washington's offseason program.

Taylor's legal problems -- he is charged with striking individuals in Miami and pulling a gun on them -- did not bode well for a renegotiation, and Rosenhaus said that a new contract is "not really an issue" at this point. Taylor showed signs of being a star player during his rookie season but also incurred numerous fines for his overly aggressive play and was suspended for one game after DUI charges. He later was acquitted.

His trial in Miami is set to start Sept. 12, but his lawyer plans to file motions to have the date moved until after the season.

Reasurring news from the WP, sorry if this has been already posted, couldnt find it.

Everyone reports that Taylor wasn't here for the OTAs and it was because he wanted to re-do his contract.
 NO  ONE  IS  REPORTING  A 1ST YEAR PLAYER CAN"T RENEGOITIATE A CONTRACT LESS THAN A YEAR OLD.

 I'd say so...

But I'm just so happy he will report. Hopefully the team will take him under their wing and help him out instead of just making him feel uncomfortable.

Not much longer to wait. I figure that we'll know what Taylor does when he does it.

I, also, hope that he reports and is enveloped in Redskin-ness.

Maybe he should move in with Joe and Pat Gibbs, the way that Kevin Payne had Bobby Convey live in his spare room when Convey was 16 and just starting with DC United.

Right, Taylor seems to have less sense than the average 16-year old.

Otherwise, I will suggest again that the Skins hire Richie Petibon and Ken Houston to sit on the bench on either side of Taylor, as Taylor sits and listens to them for about half the season.

i'm glad he is reporting, but he needs to grow up and relize what he is about to lose. No one argues his talent, it is kiddish ways that need to be controlled. If he can do that he will be a force to be reckoned with.

Now, THAT is a concept. The position prototype, and one of the all time great 'skins D coordinators on one side, and the safety who made the most incredible tackle (on Walt Garrison) in Redskins history on the other. If the kid can't show those guys some respect, there is no point in continuing.

Smiling - yes, smiling - Taylor reports for Redskins training camp

The Associated Press

July 31, 2005

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Smiling and unusually congenial, safety Sean Taylor reported to Washington Redskins training camp Sunday, ending an offseason in which he snubbed his coaches and got arrested in Florida.

``I'm happy to be back,'' Taylor said as he walked to his car after taking his required conditioning test with the team's training staff.

Taylor sported a different look and different attitude, at least in the few seconds he was exposed to reporters.

He wore his hair tightly braided under a baseball cap, with green shirt and white baggy shorts. He smiled as reporters walked with him and even paused in his car to gave one photographer extra time to take his picture - a gesture unimaginable when Taylor was boycotting the media for much of last year.

Taylor said he would speak more at length Monday, when the Redskins hold their first practices.

``I'll have something for you in the morning,'' he said.

Being cooperative won't end Taylor's troubles, however. He is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault with a firearm and a misdemeanor charge of simple battery stemming from June 1 confrontation near his Miami home. His trial is set for Sept. 12, the day after the Redskins open the regular season. Even if the trial is postponed, the matter will cloud Taylor's season.

Even before his arrest, Taylor upset coach Joe Gibbs by staying away from the team's offseason meetings and practices. In 2004, his eventful rookie year included a drunken driving charge that was later dismissed, a fine for skipping the NFL's mandatory rookie symposium, several in-season fines for uniform violations and illegal hits, and the hiring and firing of two agents. He refused to speak to reporters for most of the season and was often surly when approached.

On the field, Taylor showed promise with his speed, athleticism and his fearless hitting. He had 89 tackles, four interceptions, forced two fumbles and finished fourth in voting for the AP's NFL defensive rookie of the year.

He's going to have to be really good to put on a better performance than Ricky. Ricky looked like a little teddy bear and seemed so sincere.

Don't apologize Sean, I had plans on being pissed at you for a very long time!

Sounds good, but I'd hate to see him change his attitude 180 and then have to go to jail because of his "past mistakes"

The young man deserves a chance. He is young....we've all made mistakes. Most of us are lucky our mistakes are not made public. Let's give him a break, see how things work out, and not form lasting impressions based on "reports" from outsiders. If he is truly part of the redskin family we owe it to him to give him a chance.

This is a thread from another forum, it says that Sean Taylor has gained 10-15 pounds of muscle and is still the same speed, it makes me think OMG he could bea monstor this year, or he could also be slow. This was reported from someone they really respect over at that forum, andyman, so this very well could be true
