If you are from DC you probably know of Don Geronimo. He is a local radio personality on the Skins flagship station WJFK. His wife Freda was a regular on the show.

Freda Sorce, the wife of WJFK-FM afternoon man Don Geronimo, was killed in an auto accident on Route 90 near Ocean City MD on Sunday. Apparently, neither her husband, whose real name is Mike Sorce, nor their son, Bart, were with her when the tragedy occurred, our sources say. She was traveling westbound on 90, when a vehicle avoiding an eastbound accident swerved into the westbound lane hitting her Lexus head-on. Mrs. Sorce, who was a frequent presence on her husband's radio show, was taken to University Of Maryland's Shock Trauma Unit in Baltimore where she died. She was 50. Before marrying Geronimo, the then Freda Wright had worked at a number of radio stations in the DC area.

I concur Jansenfan-

It's weird, I have never met these people but they kinda become part of your life when you listen to the show every day.

Their son Bart has been coming on the air since he was a little kid. Now he is in college.

My deepest sympathies to the "Geronimos". Sorry about your loss.

I feel the same way. In a way, I feel like I shouldn't feel any worse for their loss than any one of the other families that suffers a loss like this each and every day; but, it's hard to escape the greater impact when you have heard these people on the radio time after time, and know something about their personal lives.

The first and only time I have ever heard Don Geranimo mentioned on the radio was on Elliot in the Morning when they were in an apparent "fued" a few months ago.

From what Geranimo apparently said about Elliot made me dislike him because I am a fan of Elliot's.

I still think this is a sad loss and I'm sorry to hear about it. It was probably mentioned on Elliot in the Morning today.

I used to listen to Don and Mike back when they were with WAVA back when it was a rock station. She has been a frequent guest on the show all the way back then. My prayers go out to the family.

Actually, you've heard him before. He did the Redkins pre-game show for years (until about 1 or 2 years ago). And Rob Speewack does the player announcements at the start of the game.

I was blown away when I heard this. I haven't listened to the show in a while (or much radio outside of XM for that matter) but she was a big part of the show. That really sucks
