I know. I know. Yet another Sean Taylor thread.
With this thread, I'm trying to get a sense of everyone's mental state out there. Are you hoping he returns for the year? Are you planning on him not returning this year? Do you care if he ever returns?
Just wondering...

Without question he is a quality player and could be a Superstar. Will he be a "Problem Child"? Will he want more $$$ than the team can afford? We don't know but if we can predict future behavior based on past behavior - IMO we don't need the continued distractions. If he stays I hope someone can help him become a quality team member as well as a quality player.

I expect him to go to camp and play this year. Next year is a different story.

hes goin 3 years. If they scheduled a trial that means they have enough evidence. Which also means its going to be hard for him to get out innocent from this one. Hes going three years then come back and beg for $$$

I really hope he is able to come back and play as soon as possible, though I am already mentally preparing for the Skins to play this season without him. I don't care when he comes back....but I want him to come back.
Now, I'm sick of talking about Sean Taylor, let's move on already!
Man... I have this deja vu thing happening...
Or, is it Vuja De... you know, the strange feeling that nothing like this has ever happened before?

Great points... let me respond with two words...
Dexter Manley.
As long as Coach Gibbs can get this kid's attention, he can manage the distractions.

none of the above.
i hope he does drag his sorry ass to training camp.... only to sit on the bench on gameday, behind EVERY other saftey on the squad who decided to be a member of the TEAM in the early off season. he needs to take his lumps or be gone. a couple years ago, i too was blinded by the big names. but i really hope taylor has to sit on the bench for a few(5-8 ) games. he hasn't proved squat as a redskin. maybe as a player, but not as a skin.
not possible some may say? well its way past june 1st, and real close to camp, but rod gardner is still on the roster. most reports said that teams interested in gardner would wait till he is released....on june 1st. what if gibbs plans on holding on to him throughout the year for the trade value. all the team has to do is pay his salary to sit out and hurt his stats. it's not like he's a mike williams with tons of potential. he has shown that he isn't all that in the big leagues. he would not benefit to sit out. it would cost him money in the future. maybe he'll be worth a pick during the season....
maybe the same will happen with taylor. ride the pine. then he has no room for a 're-negotiation'. maybe when he pulls his head out of his ass and decides to be a redskin, he'll see a little playing time. i really like the way that the team is being run right now. it is bigger than taylor, gardner, arrington, or anyone else who seems to think they are bigger than the team.

^ great point, I think it might be good for him to sit, because he hasn't donejack squat this offseason to be worthy of even being on the actual roster, theres been guys way below him coming every day working their asses off, for what, to let a guy like Taylor walk in and all of a sudden get to play, yeah right. If I was a benchwarmer and had been workign hard all year, and this guy finally shows up and gets treated like that id be VERY pissed

my point exactly. taylor is great. one of my favs. but no one player is bigger than the team. and that seems to be what joe thinks as well. if you act like you want to be here, then you'll probably see the field. if you were in miami the ENTIRE offseason pointing guns at people, getting arrested, while you should have been in pads taking that aggression out in other ways, you deserve to sit, regardless of who or what you or your agent thinks you are.
sounds like a good plan by joe. i like it.

Thanks for savung me the time of typing...I feel the same way. The most powerful force in the world is the power of choice...you live and die by them ST has not made many good ones since becoming a Washington Redskin!

Hailskin and DEHog are exactly right. When a player put's himself before the team he is then hurting the team. Taylor has all the talent in the world. I could see him in the HOF one day provided he get's his head on straight and help's the Redskins win some championships.

Well, for some reason, I no longer see the "poll" choices. So much for that, I suppose.

I'm am slowly forgetting Sean Taylor. I hear the name "Taylor and think "Charlie".
I don't care if he plays or not. The sun comes up, the caravan moves on, leaving its waste. If Taylor chooses to be among the trash, then so be it.
Too bad, but our destiny lies along the path to the playoffs and Super Bowl. This Taylor is choosing a very different path. [After watching Episode 3, I re-watched the original trilogy. Trying hard to shake the terminology...]
Taylor can't be bothered to speak to the NFL's Master Yoda? So be it.

I agree 100% IMO he's the same player he was last year. Aside from on field experience he hasn't done anything during the offseason. We here about Patrick and Jacobs working O/T and studying hard to improve themselves and Taylor is out assaulting people. He hasn't put any effort into improving his biggest problems from what I've seen. He really was lacking in the mental part of the game last year and was saved multiple times by under thrown balls and his physical prowness.
Lets not forget, everyone said Lavar couldnt be replaced. I didn't miss him one bit last year. I realize that we're a better team with him....maybe...but we were ranked #3 without a guy who everyone believes our success hinges on.
If we can survive without Lavar we can live without Taylor.

I want him to come back just to be HUMBLED as HS and DE mention above.
I want him to come back because I still believe that Joe Gibbs can turn him around and make him a TEAM player.
On the other hand, if Sean Taylor does not change his ways, I am with Welch. I would care less if he plays again for us or not. He would still be good material for a trade to get a good TEAM player.

Well, here goes nothing. Personally I think he is an exceptional athlete. However,if teams and the NFL continue to find ways to make excuses for such actions, then these actions will continue. These players are payed alot of cabbage to play a game. If he is found guilty he should not be allowed back in the league. That goes for drug use of any kind,or any violation of state or federal law. No that does not include J-walking or even dui's.The rest of the world has to play by the rules and unless the league makes a stand it will continue. I know alot of you don't feel the same but it really should be about more than playing a game. It should be about being a role model and a decent human being.

If he did it, I don't want him back. Why would we want a guy on our team who would pull a gun on somebody who stole his stuff rather than call the cops? If he did it, he's just a gangbanger who made it to the NFL. Not to mention the fact that everyone in Miami knows about that law. If your so stupid that you'd pull a gun knowing that your going to prison if you get caught....
If he did it, I don't want him back.
If he didn't do it, and he just went there to get his stuff back(without a gun), then I definitely want him back. He's a great talent. He seems to find trouble, and hopefully he will get his head straight and become a model teammate...
If he gets off, Clinton needs to take him under his wing and make this kid understand that he could lose everything. I hope it works out because he seems like a good kid under the tough exterior...

We need him back BUT we need to let him know that we are not happy about his past with the team (incidents outside of stadiums). The Skins should not in any circumstances give ST more money or a new contract. He has to realize that he's not the "Mac Daddy" and whatever he says goes. He has dissapointed the Redskins with his off the field matters. He already has proved it on the field, now he needs to prove it out on the streets. So, yes...we do need him back ASAP...but we have to show him some hard attitude also.

Of course role models in the mold of Art Monk and Darrell Green would be great but they come come once in a blue moon. I do not expect that much. I would be quite happy if he is a decent human being and a true professional. A true professional does not embarrass his sport, his team and himself in a way that reflects badly on any or all these three levels. I am with you. It is not only about winning. It is about how we get there. That is why we are Skins/Gibbs fans.
Welcome to the board! I respect people that feel the way you do.
