CR@P!!
Would our *little* owner PLEASE wake up and smell the doughnuts!!?? Sure, Fassell had a coupla good years in NY, but for the most part his teams were perennial UNDERachievers!! IIRC, his W-L record is negative and besides, I developed a white-hot hate for that dweeb over the years!
Of the three current contenders, I hope we end up with Denny Green because he seems to have a better track record, is more of a disciplinarian, and would at least command a greater input on personnel matters!

Question for u football guys Do assistants and QB coaches matter at all. Funny how Fassel was KING OF NY until he and Sean Payton started beefing last year. Hence Sean Payton helped turn around Kerry Collins career. This year Sean Payton went to Dallas and even though QC is not a Peyton Manning alot has improved. Although the Giants did have tons of injuries there were no excuses for some the play calling and the loses.

I think Fassel is a good coach but even good coaches can have bad years. This was a bad year for Fassel, and for the Giants.
A big reason for his departure though was failed expectations, and those were expectations that HE created. He has fielded solid units consistently. Frankly, to have an offensive 3 headed monster of Kerry Collins, Amani Toomer and Tiki Barber is not that menacing, so the fact that New Yorkers expected better things from the Giants tells me that Fassel was doing a good job.
It's just as pheasible to point to Parcells instead of Payton for the Cowboys (and QCs) success and realize that the Giants were decimated by injuries this season.
But I welcome the demise of every NFC East team except the Redskins, so I hope that the Giants woes continue. If they do... you'll know it wasn't Fassel.
