Safety Andre Lott suffered a hairline tibia fracture during mini-camp last weekend, an MRI has revealed. He is expected to be on crutches the next four weeks and should be ready for training camp, team officials said.
Andre Lott, during last weekend's mini-camp.
Lott, a fourth-year pro out of Tennessee, is coming off of an injury-plagued 2004 season in which he started three games and played in just four. He was inactive for three games early in the season due to a hamstring injury and then was sidelined for the season after when he suffered a left pectoral tear.
Lott is getting married this weekend. Team doctors said he would be fine to walk down the aisle with his bride-to-be minus the crutches, as well as dance with his new wife during a reception.
The Redskins currently have six safeties on the roster, including the recently signed Tony Dixon, formerly with the Dallas Cowboys. Dixon was among several players working out at Redskins Park on Tuesday.
Sean Taylor was excused from last weekend's mini-camp as he resolves a legal matter in Miami. Matt Bowen, Ryan Clark and Pierson Prioleau round out the defensive backs listed at safety.
