Short a Safety Short a Corner

In today's press conference Gibbs says "we're short a safety short a corner" I know this relates partly to Shawn Taylor which I like but LANCE SCHULTERS was just RELEASED today by the Titans, THE REDSKINS NEED TO GET THIS GUY, he's versatile and hits a ton.

we don't have the money this guy wants

The reason he was released was due to salary cap implicatons. He will want to much money. It would be nice though.

Did he ever play under Gregg Williams? If so, there might be a way too woo him without overpaying for his services.

Either way, shopping around for a safety should show our disgruntled safety that the team is fit to move on, which, hopefully, will lead to his prompt return.

The information in the Post about Sean Taylor suggests that he will likely not see any jail time, and in fact may not even go to trial.

He may plead the case out, or the charges may eventyally be dropped. I like the safety rotation as it stands, with Andre Lott, and Prioleau. Cory Hall should feel like a real idiot. He may have seen the field the way thins are shaping up.

Even if Taylor's case goes to trial it wont be until after the season. I don't think it'll even get to that point, however, because it will either be pleaded out (fine plus community service for example) or the charges will be dropped. So I don't think that he will miss any of training camp. I thinking adding some more depth and corner and safety would probably be a good idea.

I said this day 1 of this whole mess. I also said I hope this hangs over his head long enough to learn something (but not so much as to effect his play)

As far has being short a S and a CB... for Gibbs to come out and say this means he got something working

I rather have Schulters (if we can afford) than either Marion or Buchanan at this point. I really hope the season gets here soon though because it does really seem like this year is the year we get over that hump. JUST BEAT DALLAS and I'll be happy, win the division and I'll be extatic.

Redeemed, I dont think that Schulters and Williams times in Tenn overlapped, Lance was a FA from SF when he went to the Titans, and I think by that point, Williams was already in Buffalo. I could be wrong though. Either way, your point seems valid, because Williams would still know coaches at Tenn while Schulters was there. Even if he wont come cheap, if we do pursue him, Williams will know exactly what he is getting. (If that doesnt makes sense, sorry, I'm on pain meds right now)

oh, and PS, I like boulware, but we dont need any more linebackers... seriously, take a look at our roster. Also, I doubt he will come too cheap. I'd only take him for less than a mil/yr and try to move him to DE.

The Redskins reportedly are among three teams interested in free safety Lance Schulters, who was released by the Tennessee Titans last Thursday for salary cap purposes. A source familiar with the situation confirmed the club's interest in Schulters -- once a premier safety -- but a signing wasn't imminent because of his asking price. Schulters's agent, Brian Levy, did not reply to a phone message.

On Saturday, Washington signed safety Tony Dixon, who started seven games for the Dallas Cowboys last season. But Gregg Williams, assistant head coach-defense, told reporters that the club could add another defensive back. The Redskins had been hoping to bolster their secondary even before Taylor's legal issues.

I understand we lost Smoot by why bring in so many guys and tie up cap space with bench warmers?

I think it might have something to do with depth AND special teams - we will not be carrying too many people.

Keyes, Custis, Dennis, and Doering are longer Skins. I don't even think we signed Keyes. I think he just worked out.

What happen to Dennis and Doering ?

Dennis was a RFA and has not been re-signed. I think the same is also true for Doering, except that he was a UFA.

Keep in mind, even if the charges against Taylor are dropped, you can expect some sort of suspension either from the team or the league just for being involved in such a matter.
