I really should have listened to the draft reports on this guy.

"No Touch on Ball"
"Has a tendancy to throw Boneheaded INTS"

But it was more the postives that I liked.
Thats what warranted me to pick Carl Davis, QB from Georgia, #1 overall. My Franchise (San Antonio Wolves) had been tanking recently, even though we got high draft picks they all turned out to be busts. One time I drafted a WR, Dominick Jones. He had 90 Catch, and 90 Speed. Well played 1 season for the Wolves, and while a good KR, he only caught 20 passes for 500 yards and 1 TD.

My franchise continued to flounder, going 2-14,3-13,and then devestatingly, 1-15. Finally, as the owner, I knew I had to make a change. I read scouting reports carefully this time, and made sure every pick I made was solid. Well, it ends up I was wrong again. With all except for 1 pick. Carl Davis from Georgia. This kid had it all, a cannon arm, good legs, all the tangibles you could want in a QB. He also had a knack for throwing TD's (even if they were in traffic) so I decided, hey, lets draft this kid. And with the #1 pick in the 07 Draft, I selected Carl Davis. If this wasnt a game, alot of pundits wouldn't of liked the pick. The kid had the muscles, but he didn't have the brains.

Anyways, over the next few seasons, Carl Davis didn't define BUST, he defined something all together different. He threw for 32 TD's, then 42, then 45, then 52, then 60. Unfotunatly these great numbers were overshadowed by horrible recievers on my team who dropped passes all the time (Joe Lewis #13 especially, he was 75 overall, but he had NO Hands to speak of..) Anyways, all these drops led to pick...after pick...after pick. Eventually Carl racked up a league high 45 INT's. Yeah, 45 INT's. Who's record did that break?

But in the end, in the fifth year he was with the team, Lewis threw 60 TD's and only 30 INT's, leading us to our first Superbowl birth. Though he was erratic and thew INT after INT, he never held out or asked for more. He only was paid 3 million base salary, with a 8 million dollar bonus. His original contract was reduced (24 million) due to INT's.

2007 32 TD's, 25 INT's, 4,400 yards Rating:59.5(expected great things after this...but..)
2008 47 TD's, 30 INT's, 5,200 yards
2009 50 TD's, 43 INT's, 5,435 yards
2010 51 TD's, 45 INT's 5,750 Yards
2011 (his best season,superbowl win) 60 TD's, 30 INT's, 5,845 Yards Rating:68.194
2012 42 TD's, 30 INT's


Point being, give a guy a chance. This guy could have been a bust, but I kept him, even though his accuracy bit the big one. I was alot like Gibbs, as I kept him as the starter even though I had...ok well I didn't have another good QB behind him.

However, in the end Davis DID hold out for more, unfortunatly it wasn't in his career year. I traded him for a few picks and I did the CORRECT thing. I drafted Rookie that would improve the glaring holes that Davis had to work with all his years. Finally with an Average QB, Average RB, and some new talent acquired during Davis' career, I was finally able to build my Madden Franchise to sucess. We made the playoffs every year after that. However , I've never had a player that threw 45 INT's on my team before, but on a Game, anythings possible.

Anyways, Its the Offseason, so I figured I'd share this odd story about an equally odd experiance on madden.

dude you suck at madden! The worst record I've ever had even during a franchise season with teams such as the Chargers (they suck in the '05 edition), Browns, etc was 7-9. Also what I've found out quickly is that dont pay a lot of attention to the scouting reports. If the player is a WR or something, make sure his 40 time and cone drill are fast. If hes a DT, make sure his strength and acceleration are high. If hes a DE get the fastest guy with the best combination of strength. Things like tackling skills, accuracy, arm power, etc. can all be worked on in either Minicamp or through season progression. Heed this advice and you will destroy in your franchises!

Well I don't suck, I've had plenty of sucessful franchises before. I just decided to get lazy with this one. After a while I got sick of losing though, so I put my #1 pick to some use.

My intention was to get a bad record the first year, so i could get high picks. My picks pretty much went to waste, so I just simmed with the current team again. Finally, in a attempt to get picks, I just lost all games but 1.

So what you're saying is that when you put some effort into playing your draft picks stopped sucking as much?
