POLITICS: Let it go folks

As a veteran of such arguments, a Redskins chat board is not the place to win converts. We are united by our passion for this football team but that doesn't mean we share a damn thing else in common. And that's fine.
But why encourage animosity amongst the fans here? What is to be gained by it? Were there some hope of convincing a person of the opposing philosophy to switch sides, I'd find those threads useful. But as there is as much chance of that as there is of Pastabally mating without a ton of cash, why even pursue it?
I am guilty of starting those threads and I regret the decision, they are inherently divisive.
I'm not advocating a supression of opinions, I am advocating that it be done in a non-football forum. This is not some futile wish that we all "just get along," rather it's a pragmatic recognition of the discord that will accompany every, single politically-motivated thread.
Have it out left and right because debate is healthy and it serves a purpose.
Just do it somewhere else.
My 2 cents

Okay -- I'll never bring it up again.

Except now -- I don't like our Prime Minister!

So it's going to be like that is it? OK, I'll go ahead and up the ante: All of your opinions are stupid

Now, I understand that I have no power to make a convert out of anyone, but without some other issues to disagree on (at least in the offseason) we might all be bored.

I think the good thing is that even though some of us disagree in politics, we can go the Hog Wash and agree on how great the Skins are.

My 2 cents

I don't have time. I'm here WAY too often. Can't I have my cake and eat it too? (which, by the way, is probably the worst cliche in the world)

I'm not disputing your right to do it, per se, I'm questioning the wisdom of doing it. It's argument for the sake of argument.
No it isn't.
Yes, it is.
NO, it isn't.
YES it is.
Yeah? Well screw you me!
No, screw me you ... um ... you get the point

He doesn't even have a brain. You pop his lid and you'll see his insides are melted ice and a little bit of cola.

There's some rum in there too!

Natch. But rum isn't exactly a brain, now is it.

No, however, But-Rum (the rum that makes you go "she's ugly, but ...") is!

I don't know about rum, but the scotchy scotch scotch definately takes up some space in my cerebral cortex!

I do not participate in political threads. I have to deal with the World as it is, not as I would like it to be.

It is always good for me to think about what can be done NOW to solve problems and conflicts instead of waiting for the "perfect" politician to arrive and solve all of our problems.

By the way, and perhaps to irritate everybody, I have seen and sometimes even met very good and effective politicians from very different ideological perspectives. In the end, as time passes, I am more confident about capable people rather than idelogical tendencies.

I must admit I started on an ideological basis but I do not feel that way anymore. I have also known of and met terrible and ineffective politicians from different tendencies that have done nothing but create disasters wherever they have gone.

Most things come down to common sense, human skills and hard work...

... like football

All Republicans are right wing fascists.
Wait. All Democrats are liberal pinkos. All... I can't remember.
