F2FA Member Sig Contest

Hey guys--
Didn't know where to put this. I am the Chargers rep in the F2FA and one of my members proposed a sig contest:

With all the talented fans around, it'd be pretty nice to have a sig contest just for bragging rights from members of the sites in the F2FA. Make a sig from your team and we will try to have an unbiased vote on starting June 15th.

Sigs must be no larger that 500X125
Sigs can be animated
Judging should be based on originality, load times, and overall appearance.

Good Luck--Hope you enjoy.

G

Here is the sticky on my site. We will allow guests to vote as soon as we get the entries in on the 15th. Thanx.

No links allowed in signatures, glorify. You should read the rules before you start posting somewhere. :)

Our signatures are very spartan. No colours, no images, no animation, and only so many characters. The emphasis is placed on content, or at least we try.

I know mine would not win but I would really like to put it there. ALL NFL fans would know why.

You think my sig's got a chance?

We should have an F2FA avatar contest instead -- NC43's would win hands-down! :D The tough part would be choosing which of NC43's to consider "the best". :hmm:

<cough, cough> MINE!

A Chargers fan in Chicago?

That's kinda like a penguin in a desert, isn't it? :hmm:

If it was an avatar contest, I think we'd be in better shape. We do have some great avatars.....

Unfortunately, I don't think any of the hogs.net avatars would win anyway. NC43 is obviously very talented, and there are some great avatars here; but without the animation factor, I think we'd get burned. Some of those animated avatars are just sick (as in sweeet). I think an avatar showing the Arrington/Aikman destruction would kill the competition!

I guess it's personal preference. I don't particularly like animated avatars (same with sigs) -- they are very distracting, sometimes screw up the computer, and can load slowly on a modem -- which would totally deter me from even using the message board if I was on a modem. My 2 cents

Taz' is right on about the animated avs. There's one pretty decent Cowboys site where every other person has an animated av and almost everyone has these huge complicated sig pics. Even with cable it's slow, and with dial up, it's unusable.

. . .not to mention plain obnoxious. An animation is good for a quick laugh or a few seconds of study, but then the choppy repeating motions just distract me from what people are writing. I've always appreciated the simplicity of TH.net (not that I'm biased or anything. . .)

Hey, those nice animated avatars are probably nice but they do affect the site. I'd take a site like THN rather a fully animated site thats all slow any day! Hail THN!

I think it's funny that someone thinks we couldn't put together an animated avatar when we put together two and a half minute cartoons.

ROTFALMAO

Whatever.

I assure you, if NC and I wanted to build animated sigs... they'd be as much better than others as our static avatars are.

But we have other things to do... and this is a message board... it's about quality discussion here... not about who has the biggest, sexiest pic of Angelina or Brittany.

If people can't 'stand out' on the basis of what they post here, then they won't stand out.

Isn't that what forums are for?

Ummm, eh-squeeze me? :?

I was not implying that the mods are not capable of producing an animated avatar.
Edit: In fact, if you look at my original post, the part where I suggest a LaVar/Aikman animation was meant to spur one of you guys to create something like that - because I am fully aware of your skills...

What I was attempting to point out is that there are no current animated avatars here; which is what the 'contest' seems to be calling for if you look at the original post on that web site.

No need for bunched panties here! I know the limitations of the server/system/etc., I don't like the 'choppy' animations any more than the next guy, and I believe that you guys are perfectly capable of producing some amazing designs (animated or not). Simma donna!

Actually... it's a sig contest... avatars have nothing to do with it.

There's no panties in a bunch here. I just explained WHY we don't have animated sigs, and why we do things the way we do.

And I'm pretty confident that if I told NC we could go animated... he'd shine them up as much as he does the static avatars.

My 2 cents

Thanks for the clarification BH.

And you're right; some moronic posts here (i.e. by Gambit) are way more intriguing and character-indicative than some silly animations. It's not easy to project oneself simply through written words, and those that can do so effectively provide the biggest incentive for my continued participation and repeated attepmts to create thoughtful responses.

If you all wanna do an Avatar contest, make sure to exclude mine. Otherwise, you all don't stand a chance. :nana:

Redeemed's assuming they're going to use the "everyone's a winner, even the stupid kids" rule. :)

Yeah, except if there was an actual avatar contest around here I'd win by a landslide. :D
