The Bergen Record reports with the expiration of the collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and the Players Association set for 2007, the threat for a potential lockout remains until an agreement can be reached. "That could conceivably happen," Giants chief operating officer John Mara said. NFLPA chief Gene Upshaw told The Washington Post he would decertify the union if the uncapped 2007 season ever arrived, making all players free agents, which would ultimately result in owners locking out the players before that would transpire. Nonetheless, Mara believes that both sides will eventually agree on how to share local revenues and extend the CBA. "I don't think it will come to that," said Mara. "There are a lot of good people working to get this done."

I am not sure that I dislike strikes (or lockouts).

I seem to recall that the last time there was a strike among players in the NFL ...

... We won a SuperBowl!!!

Given the ramifications this scenario will not be "allowed" to take place. This is a different NFL! These guys have too much to lose to let this get that far and they are a lot more educated in the "business" of the NFL to let this get out of hand.

It is fun to speculate but this would be a huge surprise if it were allowed to happen.

I hate sports strikes as much as the next guy, but football players have been taking it laying down for years now.

They put more time in grueling practice drills than any other atheletes and they get paid the least. They ought to be able to do a little better for themselves!

I hope it doesn't come to a strike, and it can be settled in negotiations, but if the players did strike, I'd certainly understand.

You want some sort of Asian developed league, then. Roided up players being paid peanuts, giving it their all because they know the losing team gets executed.
