If you use Firefox as a browser, make sure you get the upgrade.

I began using it because it was supposed to be more secure. But this latest patch is to repair "extremely critical" security holes.

All software has bugs, and even with these holes, it's still more secure than IE.
Anyway, it should download update automatically (and prompt for install), at least it did for me.

Is firefox really that much better than the Explorer? I tried it...but it just didn't "feel" right to me.

Better is in the eye of the beholder, of course, but I think it has a lot going for it over Internet Explorer.
For one thing, IE is something like 6 years old. Whereas Firefox 1 was released just recently and includes a whole list of features missing from IE, such as tabbed browsing, browser extensions, integrated handling of RSS, a download manager, a very capable pop-up blocker, and others. Most importantly though, is the security. One of the biggest holes in IE has to do with the use of ActiveX which lets web sites install software on your computer (without your permission, if you don't have your browser set to high security mode). Also, because of many factors, the amount of turnaround for security patches and other bug fixes for IE is much slower. If you surf with Firefox, you avoid the risk of having spyware installed on your system without your knowledge.
If you don't like Firefox, for whatever reason, you may want to check out the latest beta of Netscape, which lets you choose between using the IE or Firefox rendering engine. That way, you can browse with the safety of Firefox, and then switch to IE mode when you get to a site that uses proprietary MS technology.

It took me about a week or so to get used to it, JH. But ever since switching my Adaware searches have gone from finding about 30 different objects to delete to 1 or (at the most) 3 spyware programs. It keeps the system running a lot cleaner for me.
And, by now, I actually like the 'feel' of FireFox better anyway.

I agree FFA, it takes a little while to get used to, but it's a good program. I had dial-up service a couple months ago, and Firefox seemed to be a little faster than IE - I think it loads the page first, then pics - which differs from the way IE works (load everything at once)
