CAMPBELL MAY BE THE KEY TO THE PLAYOFFS

Considering the lack of production in the skins Qbs as of the past four to five years. A rookie just maybe what we need get things going. Personally I was disapointed with our latter picks in the draft but our first two picks were good. I really thought we should pick up some more receivers particularly big targets but thats okay. I have a good feeling about this Jason Campbell kidd hes humble and has some size speed mobility and a cannon for an arm. He looks to be the type of guy who is perfect for Gibbs to teach. Improved quarterback play will drastically improve our team. The defense is set the running game is there. With the right quarterback its all uphill baby. Go skins.

He may be the key to the playoffs, but not anytime soon. He's not going to play next year. It'd be a miracle if he was the actual back-up.

OH yeah he will be the key to the playoffs maybe in 3-4 years though, not anytime soon. Ramsey is gonna pull it off, and take us to the playoffs, and if we dont go far weel go next year. And so its gonna be a while for Campbell to start, but when he does, he will be 100% ready haveing atleast 3 seasons of GIbbs offense under his belt.

He might be the reason we don't make the playoffs this year. Mike Williams would help us more this year than a guy with a clipboard.

Yeah sure. And our 8 other receivers will help us too.
Then when Ramsey leaves after this upcoming season we will be stuck with your favorite Qb Brunell.
I love how these Ramsey fanatics try to play both sides.

Are you sure that's what you meant to say?
If Campbell has to play this year that would mean the other QB were failing so It's less likely that we would be in a position to make the playoffs. Barring injury, if Campbell plays it means we have given up on the season.

I think most of us realize that JC was selected because of his potential to help our team in the future.
Ramsey will get the opportunity and hopefully makes the most of it. A lot will depend on the line play, the receivers stepping up and we need to see a much more competitive game plan. Again, we are hoping for a few things to start going our way and we should be in the playoffs this year.
I think that Joe must think that Jason can help this team, but most of us know that Joe will not use a QB until the time is right and that will not be this year or even next IMO. So, if Ramsey does not work out then I think we will have to find someone else (short-term) until Joe thinks that Jason is ready. HOWEVER this should not happen as IMO Patrick can not only be a good QB but I'm hoping he might even be good enough to win some playoff games.
As far as who we picked OR who some of us thought we should have/could have picked! - I think that Joe & Co selected who they thought could help our team both now and in the future. I also think he knows more about football than a lot of other so called experts and that's good enough for me. I think he knows who he's got and has a better idea of how they "fit" what he's looking for.
Let's get it on and I hope Jason develops into the QB that JG thinks he will.

You are right, however, this being the "Quarterback Controversy" town......If Ramsey has a horrible start and the Redskins are out of the playoffs at about halfway through the season, you WILL see Campbell. The fans and the media will be calling for him. I would be willing to bet this is what is going to happen.

The Jason Campbell pick is an example of why Gibbs and Bobby Beathard had disagreements over the draft years ago. This was not a good decision and further proof that we need a legitimate GM.

Sorry, but I disagree. This whole "Beathard was great, Gibbs can't pick players" nonsense has to stop. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the Redskins had a hell of a lot of disappointing drafts under Beathard, if you look at the first 7 rounds.
This Redskins team is better now than it was two years ago, because of the acquisitions made since Gibbs came back. Yeah, Brunell was lousy, and Barrow is a crock, but most of the pick-ups have been excellent.
You can certainly make a strong case that the trade up to choose Campbell was a bad trade, but I really can't see that it was a bad pick. I admit that there were other players I'd have preferred us to pick, but choosing Campbell may end up being the smartest thing Gibbs has done yet. Which would be ironic, because signing Brunell may be the worst move he's made!

(a) I don;t believe the Redskins will be out of it.
(b) I predict that Ramsey will start until he plays his way off the field, or gets hurt.
(c) If that happens, then we see Brunnell. Maybe, just maybe, a better, rejuvenated, Brunell.
(d) Campbell practices, just as Rypien held the clip-board in SB 22, and Stan Humphries did the same the next year. Gibbs doesn't change QB's unless he decides: never from outside pressure.

Jason Campbell was the best QB taken in the draft. As I've said before, on a level playing field he would have been the first QB taken however there has never been such thing in the NFL, and probably never will be.The guy has all the tools, and was worthy of going much higher in the draft than he did. The Redskins got a true bargain at 25. At whatever point in time he get's the opportunity to play, he will deliver.

Personally, I think Glenn Campbell has a better chance of leading us to the playoffs this year.
Also, some varieties of the soup brand.

Where do you guys get the notion that Campbell was a steal at 25. He might well turn out to be a bargain. If so, my hat's off to Gibbs. But the guy was projected by many to go in the second round and even lower by some. He had one good year in college, surrounded by some of the best players in the nation. At best, he's a gamble. He's also thought to be mobile.
Guess what? He's got the rushing stats of a statue. Apparently, in his case, mobility means that he sometimes moves when rushed. I'm underwhelmed.

QUESTION: If Ramsey turns out to have a monster year, can we somehow franchise him? Is he an UFA or RFA?
I'm confident Campbell will be our QB in the future, and yes, he will lead us into the playoffs (in due time), but it's Patrick's turn now.

I don't know about the UFA or RFA thing but are we going to have enough cap space for that? We're going to have to make some hard decisions if we want to give Ramsey a big, fat contract.

I guess that's why we drafted a cheaper, more mobile option. We shall see.

That is what I wrote right after drafting Campbell: after next year Ramsey will hold out for starter's money - and we won't be able to afford him...by then Campbell will have a year in the system and will be ready to go in '06...

Getting this guy was proof that Joe saw "something" in his abilities that made him pick him in spite of our other needs. That is why he's a "steal"! What if we had taken a "player" that a lot of other (fans or "experts" or know it alls) people thought we should and this QB was somehow picked up by somebody else who also saw "something"? I have more faith in Joe than a couple of our own fans here or the so called media experts.
That being said I really think that Joe is going to get a lot more out of Patrick this year and I also really think that Patrick wants to show everybody that he's a better QB than some thought. I think this coach & player relationship will develop and he will be our very well paid QB for a few years when JC is not only ready but also has been able to have some very effective spells of giving the very successful starting QB for the Redskins a breather.
It's only May! Wait until I really get going in July and then the season......
