With all these people doubting the skins... there has to be a thread listing the people who actually have failth...also explain why you have faith

We have imroved on our secondary that shut down TO, Moss, and the steelers wr's last year...Arrington and Jansen are back(possibly best players on each side of the ball) and The legendary Joe Gibbs gets another crack at it

So all of the people with faith put your names in here...

I'm with you. If we don't show confidence in our team, the won't show confidence on the field. They need us like we need them.

They get up for games, knowing that we're behind them 100%.

People have been buying into what the media has to saw way too much. So Fat Lenny and Peter King want to bash us.

They don't have anything to do with how well we play on Sundays.

We have a great defense that might have gotten better. Our O-line will be much better We have one of the best RB's in the NFL. And a coaching staff that can get the most out of players.

We also have a good situation at QB despite what the analysts may say. If Ramsey really is our guy he will step up and lead us to the playoffs. If not we have Jason Campbell who has major potential.

Like I said before WshSkins22 I'm with you is there anyone else?

1. We have improved our offense: Contrary to the BS that others say on this site, we have improved our offense. 5 of 11 of our offensive startes will be different from last season,(Jansen, Raybach, Patten, Moss & possibly TE) a nearly 50 percent revamp. Addition of Raybach and Jansen will improve Portis' production, and open up our passing offense. Power running backs should sustain more drives by converting 3rd and short at higher rate, and punching in TD's on at the goal line. Raybach is an excellent pulling center which will improve our sucess with the counter trey, and new stretch plays. Santana Moss, David Patten, and Jacobs are precise route runners with speed and explosiveness to stretch the field. Defenses can't play 8 in the box as often = more ball control. Gibbs has brought in Bill Musgrave who has worked with several prolific passers, and even turned Matt Schaub of Virginia into the ACC's most proficient passer. Ramsey has another year of experience, and a fire under him by Campbell's mere presence.

2. We have at least sustained our defense: After loosing Fred Smoot, we drafted one of the most talented CB's in the draft. Only allowed 18 completions all year, and won Jim Thorpe award. Should fill in nicely with Walt Harris and Garnell Wilds. Loss of Pierce will be mitigated by return of Lavar. Why? Because Lemar Marshall now has starting experience and can shift inside, making Lavar the new starter. Drafting Robert McCune and Newberry will create competition inside and hopefully force the best out of our MLB. Return of Phillip Daniels. There is a difference between being tough, and being injured. Daniels was injured, and hopefully at 6'5 280 he will add a pass rush to the D-Line. Chris Clemons has proven valuable at rush end to spell Daniels and Wynn. Even if Matt Bowen does not return full strength, Ryan Clark has proven a capable starter. Rotation of Noble, Boschetti and Salavea was impresive, and so was Cornelius Griffin.

3. Continutity in coaching and personell: Contrary to some skeptics, we did the right thing by not making the 'big splash' in free agency. IT DOESN'T WORK. A lot of people only focus on losing Smoot and Pierce, however, we retained every other free agent on the roster. Team chemistry and continuty is essential to becoming a champion. Coaching staff remains intact to continue to teach their scheme. Another year in the system will mean another year of experience and hopefully improvement.

4. Healed Injuries: Lavar Arrington should be healed by kickoff, and Jansen already has. Bowen should be able to contribute even if in a limited capacity. We should enter the season healthy as a team, and hopefully remain that way. A year off from football and the opportunity to observe the defense in motion, should help Lavar. The team improved defensively without him, he has a contract dispute, and he has something to prove. Sean Taylor is plain gifted. He will be back and in great shape with a year's extra experience.

5. Dallas sucks, Eagles are getting old, Giants have a 12 yr old at QB.

6. Improved Special Teams: We have improved by signing guys like Brian Allen, re-singnig Mike Sellers, and bringing in tough, brusing rookies to revamp our special teams. Thrash is returning, and if Santana pouts himself out of the offense, he could be back there returning kicks. Antonio brown impressed coaches and could give us a shorter field during the season.

These are true reasons why I am optimistic. Regardless to what the critics say

They will be in a lot of trouble if TO sits out the season tho. Let's just hope for that.

How can anyone blame the fans?? We have stunk it up for 13 years. Lost 14 out of 15 to the pukes. I think the fans have a right to voice their opinion. I, on the other hand, am happy. Broughton looks like the reincarnation of my boy stephen davis. Cut portis, lets line up and punish the opposition. My only concern is Ramsey. I have faith in him but am worried what will happen if he struggles.

Quotes from 2004/2003 NFL Previews

The commentators are usually wrong or pessimistic. Look at some of these predictions from the Sports Illustrated 2004 season preview.

“The Redskins have addressed most of the weaknesses that contributed to a 5–11 record last season, though some holes appear to remain on defense.” (Defense was the strength not weekness)

“The Steelers look like a team in decline, and their record indicated it last season” (Playoffs)

“The Chargers will still ride in the AFC West caboose as they continue with their massive rebuilding effort.” (Playoffs)

“The Redskins lost Bailey, perhaps the NFL's best cornerback, and replaced him with a player who held the designation early in his career before being hindered by injuries” (Everyone worried about Springs being able to play)

“At age 35, Barrow, who led the NFC in tackles last season, is in tremendous shape, thanks to a maniacal regimen.” (Ended up injured all year)

Offensive Coordinator Hue Jackson in 2003….
“We've got a home-run hitter Trung Canidate in the backfield."

Nobody knows whats going to happen. With a better offensive line(new center, Jansen healthy, 2 rookies more experienced, second year in bugel system), better special teams(faster players, 2nd year in system), better H Back (more experience for cooley, new goal line players), faster receivers, qbs who know the system better, Lavar healthy, Bowen healthy, Daniels healthy, strong offseason participation, a wide receivers coach who will be here rather than at his son's dside, and more financial restraint so we can see light at the end of the salary cap tunnel.

I think the Redskins can make the playoffs this year. First, their defense is still strong. Rogers can replace Smoot in the long run and I think the Redskins can find a replacement at Middle linebacker with Marshall or somebody else.

The Redskins offense will be better simply because Ramsey has a year under his belt of Gibb's system. Ramsey played significantly better under Spurrier's system during his second year.

Casey Rabach and the return of Jon Jansen will help improve the o-line and the Redskins' can utilize a good running attack with Clinton Portis. Ladell Betts also showed at the end of last year that he could get some carries for good yardage.

Finally, adressing Jason Cambell, the Redskins may have felt they would have needed to take a QB for the future, even if Ramsey does turn into a good qb. They felt it would be better to develop a QB in their system for a year. If Ramsey doesn't have a good year this year, Cambell could be ready to start next year. This will put more pressure on Ramsey to become a better player.

That being said, there are no guarantees but I'm optimistic for now.

I have complete faith in us having a very very strong season. First of all we have impoved our offense alot. He got 2 very fast WRS. 2nd we have a monster offensive line with Rabach, and Jasen coming back from his injury. 3rd Ramsey is stepping up and improving his chemistry with the receivers. 3rd Gibbs get another crack at it with a lil West Coast style offense. 4th we got a copule of monster FB and H-Back rookies.

We also improved out defense. He drafted a shut down corner who is projected to be better than Fred Smoot and Chump. 2nd of all Bowen will be coming back from his injuiry. 3rd Lavar will be coming back with his injuiry. Our Dline is great, and we might sign a DE after June 1st cuts. 4th we have alot of depth at the linebacker position with our new rookies.

And we also improved our special teams signing a couple of players, and a key Punt Returner Santana Moss.
I trully have faith in a great season.

I dont even like santna moss...what is there to like he had 45 catches last year and wants a high contract before he plays a down in a skins uniform...

Let's cut through the crap. Neither Patten nor Moss nor Taylor have yet proven they're as good as Gardner, let along Coles. In fact, Gardner will probably beat out Patten and Taylor.

The Redskins should be better by at least 2 games. I just think the Iggles have maybe 1 more year in their window before they implode.

There's power in positive thinking Washington 53, and I consider your evaluation worthy of note. I too agree with your concept that we have upgraded all across the board. I know only time will bear this out but IMO we can look foreward to a much improved season.

I am particularly impress with the upgrade at QB, and ST. Jason Campbell (while debateable) may be the best QB in the draft. Maybe on a level playing field he would have been the first QB taken, however unfortunate it does not work that way in the NFL. In the long run we will all eventually be glad we chose Jason Campbell.

I can't read Joe's mind but I get the feeling he is trying to get more speed at the WR spots. It's going to be WR by committee without any real stars. I have no problem with Gardner making the team, but I would rather see McCants ger a shot at the possesion (ie. slower but bigger) receiver role.

Try to be a little more optimistic. It doesn't hurt that much and regardless of who we have as WRs, it's going to be a running team.

I definitly think that we will see an improved team on the field this year. I'll admit that I wasn't all that ecstatic with the draft and the failure to address some of our weaknesses. Howeve, I have to think that Gibbs will make some strides with the offense in his second year and the D should remain a top-10 unit. I'm cautiously optimistic that we can finish 9-7, or maybe even 10-6.

That being said we can't get too ahead of ourselves....

He got 2 very fast WRS. 3rd Ramsey is stepping up and improving his chemistry with the receivers.

Not sure how Ramsey is improving his chemistry with the receivers when our likely #1, Moss, hasn't even worked out with the team. Coles is gone, and 50/50 may still be dealt or cut so we will have 2 new starting receivers; that means that Ramsey will have to develope brand new chemsitry with his receivers.

4th we got a copule of monster FB and H-Back rookies.

I don't think that they will have as much of an affect as we think. One will likely backup Cooley at h-back and the other will primarily be used in special teams. All this talk of using one of them as a short yardage back in utter nonsense. Our problem last year in short yardage situations was due to our line being unable to open holes and teams stacking the line because of our inept passing offense. This season our line and passing games should be better and I almost positive that Portis is the one that's going to be getting the carries on the goal line.

He drafted a shut down corner who is projected to be better than Fred Smoot and Chump.

I like Rogers too but he hasn't played a single down in the NFL yet whereas Champ and Smoot have proven themselves against the toughest competition. Also not sure what projection you're looking at that project Rogers to be better than Champ.

Our Dline is great, and we might sign a DE after June 1st cuts. 4th we have alot of depth at the linebacker position with our new rookies.

Our d-line is solid, not great. They hold up well against the run but aren't able to generate much of a pass rush. And while we do have some depth at mlb, it doesn't appear that Barrow is going to be starting so we're liekly going to have an inexperienced starter at mlb and that could cause some problems.

Like I said earlier, I think that 9-7 is a very reachable goal but we do still have some areas that we need to improve upon before we're going to be a consistently good team.

9-7 is my prediction with a wildcard spot...but who knows the NFC might improve this year making it hard to slip in at 9-7

hail to the skins!
i LIKE 9-7 A LOT i think we can pull it off again losing the east to the eagles!
We will win the east in the next 3 years.

NOTE:
Whoever says portis should be cut is not very smart. He had a bad year last year and rushed for 1300+ and we have added a pro bowl tackle and rabach at center. He is going to have a very big year.

If he stays healthy I bet that Portis leads the NFC in rushing and posts double-digit td's.

I am more than a believer. The glory days are going to return to DC. I think our defense is top notch, not just talent, coaching as well. The offense will be tougher with the return of Jansen and the addition of Rabach. The WR's are all talented, Cooley is a dog, and Portis is phenominal(sp?). Ramsey is the next Drew Brees, but if not, we have a good looking young QB in Campbell. Morton will be explosive with Thrash on kick/punt returns. John Hall and Tom Tupa are a solid K and P, respectively.

And two more words make all of it click and make the Skins a great team: JOE GIBBS.

GO SKINS!!!

The team is headed in the right direction.

We now have blazing speed on the offensive side of the ball. Moss and Patten were two of the top five WRs last year in yards per catch. No more stacking the box! At least we have some recievers who can get some seperation now! Our o-line is significantly better as well. One thing nobody has mentioned - Chris Samuels played great the last half of the season even though he had been injured all year. He is regaining his form and with Jansen back and Rabach here our line is going to maul people. Cooley proved himself to be a go to guy at the end of the year, this year he is going to be a more integral part of our offense from day 1.

Our D will be great again even without Pierce and Smoot. Sean Taylor is going to be amazing in his second year. Basically everyone's hit on all the stuff I was thinking here - we get players back from injury...

Most importantly, our special teams will be significantly better this year. When you look at all the close games we played last year, improved special teams play could make a significant difference.

Finally, (hopefully) Mark Brunell will not have to play.

I am always confident in the 'Skins, I think they will be a solid team this year. If we stay healthy and Ramsey plays well we should make the playoffs.

Get it out of your heads we won't beat Dallas, we won't beat the steelers, and we won't beat the Eagles. This is a joke.
