The coming QB controversy.........

Let me be the first to ask this question...........
Since the Washington Redskins are undoubtedly and historically the team of quarterback controversies, what do you think would happen in this following, yet quite possible, scenario......
Ramsey starts for the Chicago game, plays decent but loses.
Ramsey starts the Dallas game, plays okay but still loses.
During the Bye week, how badly will the call go out to "start Campbell?" I think it will be pretty resounding, especially if the reports coming out of training camp are that Campbell is the real deal with major talent ( I personally think he is).
I'm not necessarilly trying to "stir the pot," but I think Chicago is vastly improved and Dallas coupled with our Monday Night curse will always be difficult to beat.
I don't think Gibbs can afford to start out 0-2, especially with our defense carrying the load last year.
What do you guys think about this?

I think it will take longer than two weeks of losses to get him benched, especially if he is playing decently.

Gibbs will not start a Rookie QB. Brunell would go in before the Rooke - guarenteed.
He will stick with Ramsey this year.

If it took half a season for Gibbs to bench Brunnell, who was absolutely terrible, then PRam will not be removed after 2 games. If he is, rest assured that he will be playing somewhere else next season.

Non of this will happened, the bears don´t have an offense who can score against our defense, at the worst going into the bye week we`ll be 1-1.
Ramsey will be awsome that game and ge will prove to everyone especially Gibbs that Campbell was a waist pick, not only that game but the whole season.
But what if Ramsey takes us to ´´THE PROMISE LAND´´ which he will, then what about Campbell....

That's just crazy talk...
Not only will Ramsey win the first two games, but I'll bet he plays the whole season - unless he gets injured.
ps. Maybe this was already covered somewhere, but if we have already agreed to terms with Ramsey, Brunell, and Hasselbeck, what happens with Campbell? Does Tim get the boot to Europe?

they're talking of trading him (hasselbeck), or possibly just releasing him.

Now, imagine this scenario:
Ramsey plays decent, we score 2 TDs and 2 FGs, and our D-fense holds Chicago's young squad to 10 points, We are 1-0.
Game 2: Ramsey plays well again, keeps his cool under pressure seizing this first win in a long time at Dallas, on MNF no less! 2-0 with a BYE.
Under this scenario, Ramsey will be heralded in DC and everyone will say it is because Gibbs drafted the Auburn QB.
The real story is the low turnover in the offseason together with consecutive years of good caoches and coordinators. <<<<<< This is what will win us games in the fall, not Mike Williams or any other WR we could have drafted.

Your right were going to start out 0-2, but he won't start Campell at the third game of the season. When the season is over he will put Campell in at the end of the season and release Ramsey at the end of the year (or trade) and start Campell next year.

...and, Mr. Negativity returns.

Geez John. Unless your name is Nostradamus, then understand that your rhetoric and predictions of losses are just about as futile, unfounded and ridiculous as predicting rain 20 years from now.
Get over yourself.

But it is going to rain 20 years from now.

Man...I have to piggy back! That was very well put. We need to trust in the Redskins!!!

Im tired of this bench ramsey scenario...lets say Ramsey plays like donovan...then what do we do with campbell....If ramsey takes us to playoffs then it will be a wasted pick can someone please answer my question what happens to campbell is Ramsey plays great

Then Campbell sits on the bench. It's not really that complicated.
In today's NFL, you really need two quarterbacks capable of starting. A guy like Patrick is probably going to be hurt again sometime during his Redskins career. We know Brunell is no longer a quality player, and he is only going to get worse.
There are worse problems than having too many quarterbacks.

ramsey will never play like mcnabb. he can't run, and he can actually throw.

Gibbs said Campbell WILL NOT play in 2006! Brunell is the backup!

Yes, but Gibbs
liked Brunnell, so he cut him some slack (too much, if you ask me). He clearly does not like Ramsey, so who knows how long he's got before he gets the hook.

It's not like Ramsy has been exactly durable. In 2003 it was apparent he was the man, now we know Spurrier's schemes were boneheahded when it came to protecting the QB, but Ramsey got shelled. Like it or not he now has a pretty substantial history of injuries for a being a fourth year guy, not to mention shell shock.

that might be due to him being sacked 71 times in 30 games... that averages out to 2.4 sacks a game... if he's getting sacked that many times a game... imagine how many times he's gotten hit after he's thrown the ball away...
ouch...

I agree, that's why his durability worries me, you can't get hit like that and it seemed like he was on his back at the end of every in 2003, plus he's not the most mobile QB in the NFL. I admit his injury history worries me, that's like the Campbell pick.

Fine you know and the rest of this board knows how I feel about this draft, Ramsey's future, and Joe Gibb's ability to spot talent. I will drop those 3 topics. Late me say this, I think Rogers will be a good player. Not spectaculat but solid, I just think Mike Williams will be a lot better and fills a bigger need. I don't want you all thinkng I think Rogers sucks. If Campell is good you can rub it in my face all you want. Same goes to if Mike Williams sucks and if Ramsey stays here after his contract. I will drop the draft talk.

Been absorbed by personal business, but still:
- drafting Campbell does not indicate a QB controversy. Gibbs has said that Campbell has great talent and great promise, but that he is not ready now to play in the NFL.
- as said above, Campbell is QB3, the reserve, the clip-board carrying learner for a few years
- drafting Campbell shows no dislike of Ramsey. It shows common sense caution. QB's get hit and hurt. For that matter, all NFL players get hurt, and a team without depth will die.
- Ramsey will start for a long time
- For some perspective, recall the '83 draft. The Redskins had the bottom 1st round pick, but there were a lot a fine QB's in the draft. Joe T. was into his 30's, and the Redskins had no respectable backup. Boomer Esiason was passed over, waiting, available when the Redskins got up to draft. Boomer...local hero...the clear choice. And yet the Redskins took a small db from a small school, a player not otherwise notable except that he also ran track, and was second only to Carl Lewis at all the NCAA meets. So the unknown kid was fast, but everyone screamed for Boomer. And Boomer had a good career, but who wants to argue, now, against Darrell Green?
- It's the draft. It's not predictable.
- This Redskins draft looks OK to me.

Let me ask you one question...do you have any idea the pigeonhole you occupy by using that particular color font ?
