Ramsey`s Contract

I just red Ramsey has two years left in his contract, so does that means at least he`ll be here for two ore years?, and why many people are saying the redskins won`t be able to keep him b/c of the salary cap problem if Gibbs already said the redskins will sign Ramsey to a multimillion contract if he come through next year.

He will be a RFA next year. Meaning someone may come and give up draft picks to get him if he has a monster year.
Joe said that he would like to give Ramsey a $40 million dollar contract....not that he can. The fact is we can't possibly pay him that much money! So, either this year or next is most likely his last, unless we dismantle the team around him to give him that $40 million.

So if Ramsey takes this team to the plaoyffs then we won`t have enough money to pay him so he`ll go and the redskins start a QB who wouldn`t have play in the NFL, that will be a setback of two or three years. I just can`t imagine having a plaoyff QB (if the redskins go to the playoffs) which has happened only ones in 12 or 13 years and then start next season with a 2 year QB, I would keep Ramsey, make space for him to pay him and keep going with him, it doesn`t make any sense to let him go and start another season with a second year QB.
I say all this if Ramsey takes us to the playoffs which I`m sure he will.

Do you think that Ramsey's contract was part of the reason for drafting Campbell. I just can't belive that. The QB position is too important to mess around like that.

Oh Yeah, the contract is a big concern. This is not the Redskins being cheap. This is the reality of the Cap situation that Gibs inherited and somewhat exaserbated with Brunell.
The QB position is too important too not take that into consideration.

Who knows ? And, based on what we've seen so far, who really cares ? Is Patrick really the World-Beater we're all making him out to be ? Is he the next Joe Montana ?
I think he's got all the potential in the world to be a pretty good QB, but how does that mean that we don't explore our options when his contract is up ?

We will easily be able to sign Ramsey to a big contract if he performs well enough this season. Don't let these guys make you think Ramsey is gone no matter what. If Ramsey has a break out year, and he will, he will definitely be our starting QB in 2006 or we will be well compensated for him, meaning 2 first round draft picks...

Ramsey 2005 Stats
2005 Washington Redskins 16 16 324 212 65.1 2,864 6.12 51 27 12 23/137 20 24 105.8
I believe Patrick is very capable of this. 65% passer rating, 27 TD's, 12 INTS. 20 20+ passes, and 24+ of 40 yards or more.
I'm guessing around 2,864 yards.
He won't have many Attempted passes (only 324) because this is a run based offense. Which He'll thrive in, because he just has to make the right throws..

I think making the right throws is a problem for Ramsey.
