Taylor Jacobs??

I can't find anything about Taylor Jacobs. With all the Edwards/Williams talk is it safe to assume that they have all but given up on Taylor Jacobs? He was the guy Vinny was going to pick with the first round pick we sent for Lavernous Coles and were amazed we got him in the second round. Another second round bust? It seems there is nothing in the plans for him even though this is his 3rd year in the league. The Redskins will have Edwards/Williams, Moss, Patten, Thrash, Jacobs, McCants, and Gardner after Saturday. There seems to be no interest in Gardner I would be happy to get anything in return for him. The Jacobs pick worries me on how we rate our draft board. He was supposedly rated #16 on our board two years ago, when does Vinny start being held accountable for wasting the draft picks (future) of the team. You can't put all the blame on Spurrier for that draft. I still think Jacobs has talent but it will probably be realized elsewhere.

I think he's still good. Dont' give up on him, he got more action at the end of the year.

I would to see the Skins give him a fair chance, if he can stay healthy. I feel that if give that chance he would turn out to be a damm good ball player.

The problem was that last year his injury took him out of contention. Gibbs came into training camp, watching Jacobs fighting to get back to where he could contribute. At the end of last season he was playing a bit more and I believe he will be a factor this year, especially if some team would take Rod Gardener already. That whole situation reminds me of the old joke. " Someone take my wife PLEASE." Except all skins fans are saying "Someone take Rod Gardener PLEASE!"

I think that, in this offseason, no news is really good news. Nothing has been said about Thrash, either, and HIS job security is a lock on this team. McCants hasn't been talked about either. I'm not worried about him either. All the names that have been in the news are mainly disgruntled players. Jacobs is certainly not one of them, and I'm sure he'll be ready to make a run for #1 at training camp.

If we do take a receiver, someone has got to go in addition to Gardner. We only suited up 4 receivers much of last year and McCants was left out. Is the same going to happen again. I think he'll be gone if we take Edwards or Williams - Gibbs seems to like the others more.

He deserves more of a second look than Ramsey does IMO.

We have already continued to tell the whole world that Gardner is no good and we don't want him. He has said himself he dosen't want to be here and would like a trade. Well, if everyone is to beleive what's being said about the guy, why would anyone want to trade for him?

I have to assume people were saying the same thing about Mark Brunnell last year, and someone took him. Guess ya never know. Just like all the speculation gets you no where on who we'll pick or who'll play at WR, you just never know.

Vinny wasn't the guy who wanted Jacobs in the first, nor the second round where we drafted him. That was all Spurrier. Poor Vinny wanted Mike Doss more than anything, and I was pissed when Steve got Jacobs. Now that I look back on it though, I'm kinda glad we passed up Doss because although he's a pretty good player, we woulda ended up drafting Kellen Winslow instead of Taylor last year.

Taylor Jacobs has to really step up this year especially if we dont draft a receiver. Hes been a non factor for his first two years and is looking the same for this year if he doesnt step up his game.
Edwards please VINNY!

That doesn't make sense about your spurrier comment

Vinny wanted Doss, not Taylor (and Spurrier wanted Taylor) - what doesn't make sense?

He's bulked up and gotten a lot stronger,Jacobs has always had the speed, but now he's harder to bring down and I think he will surprise a lot of people next year

That's it. Exactly.

The players we don't hear about are the players who are working hard. We hear about players for the wrong reasons (not returning Joe Gibbs' phone calls...about as bad as it gets.)

Jacobs has all the tools/talent to dominate. I just wish he would get a decent shot so he can prove me right or wrong.

Taylor Jacobs could be one of the top WR in the league, or at the least one of our best wideouts.
He has good size at 6’0 and 200 lbs. He ran a 4.40 in the 40 yard dash and a 37 inch vertical coming out of UF.
He has shown that he gets open, has the awareness to find the open spaces and catches the ball when thrown to him.

IMO Jacobs is trying to shake the same problem that Ramsey has been battling……… Steven O. Spurrier

Spurrier almost ruined Ramsey his last year here (that’s been covered here many a time)

As far as Jacobs goes, he owes the Skins big time. If Spurrier had stayed at Florida we may have never of know about. Taylor’s first year with SOS had Reche Caldwell, Darrell Jackson and Jabar Gaffney on the roster so it was hard to get playing time. Going into his final year his stats where no where near a NFL caliber WR. He only had 62 catches and 8 TDs ( this is what you get after 3 years in Steve’s Fun & Gun).

His Sr. years (the one year without Spurier) he had 71 catches for over 1000 yards and 8 TDs

He fell back in with SOS for awhile but he is free again, HOPEFULLY we'll see him running free in the secondary all season
