Hi Guys, I love football but being non US I didn't grow up with it so some finer aspects really confuse me and on TV they are mentioned as though everyone should know what they are.

So could some one give me the lowdown of what the Cover 2 defense is or means

Thanks

:)

You remind of C3PO...

None the less and glad to have you aboard. That is something I was wondering to. And I think Carlos Rogers will be a perfect fit because he can effectively play zone or man.

Actually I am English so that is pretty close to C3P0...we got rid of our violant nature in the late 18th Century, come revolution thingy LOL

So to go against that trend I won't thankyou...argh I can't do it Thanks Air Hog

don't worry, Badgerking- no one over here knows what in the world "Cover 2" really means either, unless we go look it up (or actually used it ourselves when playing, presumably). in fact, i suspect that most of the announcers really have no idea what it means either. but it sounds cool so they keep saying it all the time.

Jake had to help me paste it.
On the ESPN NFL Home page, there's a link on the middle right under Dungy's picture.
There, you'll find more stuff that needs to be transcribed and added as text to these diagrams...but I don't really know how to do that, either. :(

Cover 2 is a surprisingly simple scheme, but relies heavily on a successful pass rush...if the QB has enough time, the two db's playing mid deep zone can get stranded in a hurry.
