5 things i think now (was going to post fri but...)

1) i was going to end with "keep all our picks for 2006" but that was blown away by todays news. the draft next yr will be much deeper. people like leinart, reggie bush, dbrickshaw ferguson, kiwanuka from BC. you mark my words. it is a shame we dont have a 1st rounder right now for next yr.
2) alex barron is the key. we have to hope a team like the texans or panthers will move up to #9 so detroit doesnt take him. remember, the lions lost their RT and may be looking at barron. panthers really need a LT to move back gross to RT.
move 5-6 spots down, pick up a 2nd or 3rd rounder, and merriman or rogers should still be there. texans kinda ran out of ammunination today when they gave up their 2 and 3rd rounder to oakland but they desperately need a LT to protect carr. maybe we take their 2nd rounder next yr?
3) the #25 pick really puzzles me. WR williamson is unlikely to be there. would not reach for another WR. just gotta hope they can trade that pick for addl ones. matt jones is likely to be there but he is just such a huge risk.
4) the schedule looks decent to me. i think we can be 5-3 or 4-4 after the eagles in week 8. 9-7 should make the playoffs and the 2nd half. consecutive home games against oakland and san diego (the 2 farthest teams in the nfl), and cowgirls and giants sets us up perfectly in my opinion. and yes, maybe that last game at philly, the eagles are resting some starters...
5) can anyone see al davis taking matt jones in round 2 and adrian mcpherson in round 3, followed by clarett in round 6?!
we gotta face oakland this yr. lets hope their defense stays really bad. just a thought, if they trade woodson, who on earth are their CBs?

No need for Bush, we've got Portis signed for a few more years.... Ferguson neither, since we've got Jansen & Samuals signed for a length of time too.... and Leinarts going Number 1 next year... and if we had any chance of getting him, which I don't believe we would, we'd also have to trade our first in 2007 for him.... so 3 out of your 4 examples of players we may need weren't really gonna be Skins anyways...

Teams that need a CB might be interested too...Kansas City, Cincy, NYJ, Jacksonville....

bringthepain,
you miss my point. it is true we dont need leinart, bush, or ferguson but other teams will definitely need them and so trades and picks could be done at the most optimal situation. heaven forbid we finish last and end up holding #1. assume leinart has another great yr, and/or ferguson proves he's the next orlando pace or walter jones. can you imgaine the scenarios we could entertain picking at a high spot? that was the essence of my post...

Gibbs is a great coach.... GM.... I am not sold... I am actually worried..................

Have to agree - what are we thinking? The win now at all costs and toss away our future plan we've imployed now for the pass 8 years has paid such great dividends - losing season after losing season
I don't know what schedule everyone is looking at but I see another 6-10 or even a 5-11 season AGAIN! Do you really think we can beat any team on the schedule except Chicago (maybe), Cards (again maybe), SF and maybe split with NYG? And get a give-me game from an out of conference team possibly.... Every team we play this year has stayed at last years' level or improved. We have taken several steps backwards, killed our cap and have a bunch of bad attitude players to boot.
Sorry guys but I'm really souring on this team, owner and coach. And the "trust Coach Gibbs" quote is getting old and not proving to be correct.
As much as I despise everything remotely Ravens - they know how to draft and keep team chemistry. Wish we 1/10 of their skill in that area.....

If keeping next year pick to trade back for more picks was what you were trying to get across... well I'm sorry if I didn't grasp that... but you mentioned nothing about trading next years pick for more players/picks.... I'd bet alot of money that we don't end up in last, nor anywhere close to it... at worst, I say we're picking at the number 10-15 spot next year... and that's at worst... Gibbs & Company will atleast have the team alittle improved I believe... and I don't see us being able to being anywhere close in positon of drafting/or being in the drafting slot to nab or trade away one of those players you mentioned...
