Does Gibbs lack confidence in Ramsey?

Will be interesting to see what the Skins do this weekend with their two first round pick. When you look at what Gibbs has done it's seems he lack confidence in Patrick...the first thing he did last year was bring in Brunell, than he didn't make the switch until the season was over. Now he trades for a number one in this years draft?? I never question Gibbs but didn't he say the job was Ramsey"s ?

I was one of those that thought Ramsey actually won Gibbs over last year. I can't believe he won't give him the nod this year. Time will tell, I suppose.

No one has said that Ramsey has lost his job yet, don't panic. JGibbs hasn't said anything about getting a QB in the draft. And even if we did get a QB in the draft, there's no way JGibbs would start the rookie rather than PRamsey.
I'm not taking this crap about getting a QB in the draft.
We're going to get a CB with the 9th and a WR with the 25th.

To echo previously heard bits, I believe as well that this is a little trickery designed to hold off teams from snatching someone we may want with the 25th. Or could also be to scare someone into trading up to us for their late 1st and a 2nd/3rd or any combination to obtain extra picks. With Rabach bolstering the center slot, and a healthy Jansen returns our line to a solid force to recon with. Should allow time for Ramsey to make good decisions...we already know he has the arm. I can't see Gibbs throwing Ramsey to the weeds, but stranger things have already happened this offseason, so

I just can't believe..
1. We are targeting a QB
2. That we would talk openly about it?
I just heard that the Skins have have the lowest number of draft picks during the past few (Snyder) years. I'm starting to think this is Gibb's way of getting some picks and getting some of "his" type players in here.

I hope you all are right. These moves have made me nervous. Jason Campbell when we have more pressing needs? Do these guys know what they're doing? I don't think so!

i have heard gibbs doesn't like ramsey on a personal level... he thinks he is too cocky.... a la stan humpfries... and we know what happened to him....
ramsey may be as good as gone....
i don't really know how i feel about that... but time will tell...

Is Jason Cambell capable of starting? If I recall correctly he beat VA Tech in the Sugar bowl this year.
I don't know about starting but I think we should make him the back up this year and consider starting him next year.
That's IF we get him....

I can't believe that the Skins would be targeting a QB. We have too many other needs. Ofcourse it could be the smokescreen theory...you know all the agents have been using us to drive their deals...maybe the Skins have learned a lesson and are floating rumors about which players they are going to pick. Stir the pot and see what comes your way?

yea, i can't believe it either. poor patrick ramsey. why can't he be given one real, full chance? i like jason campbell just fine, but come on.
then again, last year there were rumors that we were going to trade up to get eli manning, and that didn't happen. fingers crossed... stay the course, joe.

I just called Redskins Park, I talked to the lady who answers the phone and she told me all this about Ramsey are just lies, she also told me not to put attention to what the media says, she said on last year´s draft everyone was saying we would get Winslow and that was a strategy to put the attention on someone else instead of Taylor, so the point is all this are lies and rummors, Ramsey will be the QB in 2006 and this came from a source inside redskins park.

First, I wouldn't put too much stock in any rumors that pop up a few days before the draft. Second, Campbell is probably the hottest player in the middle to late first round right now. So it only makes sense that we would leak rumors about Campbell to gin up interest in trades. Third, I personally hope the Skins are trying to get Heath Miller with that 25th pick. I don't think there is another more obvious Gibbs type of player in this draft than Heath Miller.

the more i think about it, the more absurd this whole thing sounds.
gibbs doesn't like dealing with rookie qbs, and it would back the team into a bad corner. Ramsey would rightfully demand a trade, and gibbs wouldn't want to start a rookie, so we'd end up playing brunell for another year. I think gibbs wants to win NOW, before he gets too old.
I think it's more likely they'll trade the #9 (plus gardner, or someone else) for like the 2 or 3, take Braylon Edwards and then take a CB with the 25 pick. i just don't see this campbell thing happening... it's too long-term an approach for Gibbs.

Always remember Gibbs himself said we haven't seen the last of Brunell. Ramsey had better have a stellar year otherwise he is gone next year. Gibbs wants to win now.

Joe Gibbs likes to keep the peace in the locker room... I think we've seen the last of Brunell. Maybe last year was a fluke but I doubt it. He couldn't have played worse.

That guy from ESPN must be smoking some strong pot.
Why, oh why, would we trade get a QB when Joe has publicly stated several times that he likes what hes got right NOW on the roster?
Heck, even Hasselbeck signed recently with us, so there's your 1,2, and 3 QBs.
MAYBE if T.H. hadn´t signed there would be some truth to it, but right now it seems total giberrish to me.

I've noticed that ESPN often takes a shotgun approach to reporting rumors. My guess is that the philosophy says: If the rumor is baseless than that is all it ever was but if it has any veracity, then they get to trumpet "As reported by ESPN's <insert name> ..." on that night's Sports Center.
And Pasquerelli's track record where the Redskins are concerned is abysmal so I have very little faith in his reporting.

I,m feeling ya Skinz-Domin8. I,ve said it before, and I,ll say it again, those of us who are familiar with Joe Gibbs knows he prefers a veteran at the QB position that's why Brunell was the first move he made when he returned. While we have all these negative adjetives to describe Brunell, I too do not beleive we've seen the last of him either. Ramsey had better show very well in the four pre-season games otherwise he may be facing the same dilema he faced going into last season despite the fact Gibbs has already named him the starter.Save for mutiny at Fed-Ex last season, there's no way Gibbs would have pulled Brunell even though he, along with the rest of the team was playing poorly.I am well aware of Gibbs undying loyalty to his veteran players, and (espically QB) so this may be Ramsey's last opportunity to show that he deserves to be under center.

Ramsey has yet to show what he can do. Training camp last year he was coming off the surgery to his foot. Sure Brunell probably looked better but wait until this camp. I think with him being in there working with all the guys at the vol. workouts and putting pressure on Moss to be there, Gibbs likes that. Everyone in the league says that Ramsey is a good QB with a great upside. They also say that he hasnt been given the opportunity. I think that Gibbs will keep him and he is going to be our starter next year. We wont be able to do anything with Brunell and we just resigned Hasselbeck. It isnt making sense for us to draft a QB.
