Trading down would be EXACTLY what the Skins need

Why we should trade down?

1. This is a weak draft where there is not much seperation between the top 10 picks and the next 30-40.
2. When you consider that the salary for the #9 guy will be many times larger than the #29 guy it seems to make more sense to try and pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick and pick in the bottom of the first round.
3. Heath Miller may be available somewhere between 20-29. He has the best hands in the draft and probably would have gone in the top 15 if it weren't for a hernia he had surgery for recently. He has a clean bill of health but the timing was bad and his stock slipped a bit.
4. We don't need any more rotten apples on this team. The more players hand-picked by Gibbs the better.
5. We need more depth at just about every position. With one 2nd round pick already gone, we could seriously use some extra picks from trading down.
6. Our salary cap position is tight. We need to start stock-piling younger cheaper players to replace the ones who will inevitably leave over the next few years.

Besides Heath Miller, I think a few other good trade down targets might be David Pollack, Roddy White, Mark Clayton, Marcus Spears, Erasmus James and Carlos Rogers. I'd rather have ANY of these guys plus a second round pick than any of the players projected to go at the #9 pick.

I agree with trading down... I guarantee our corner position is fine with springs harris , we need a playmaker on offense

I agree, an additional selection in the 2nd round would be a good move by the Redskins.

It's a nice idea but it's not going to happen. No other teams want to trade up.

I don't think that you will find any sane person who will disagree with you. But, the question is who are you going to trade with? The Ravens might want to trade up. But they would either want to only trade up a few spots, or all the way into the top 4 so that they can get M. Williams or Braylon Edwards. The Eagles might want to trade up but they won't trade up with us.

People have been saying for months, quite literally, that we should trade down. I hope that it happens, but I can't see how. I hope that Joe has some left field plan cooked up, but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks for answering for all other 31 teams. We can all go home now :P

Seriously, you're probably right, BUT, you just can never be sure what the other teams want. Draft day does some crazy things to GM's to make them panic. I've read rumors (completely unfounded ones) that say Marvin Lewis covets Pac Man. Another one that said the Saints were desperate to improve their CB situation and weren't ruling out moving into the top 10 for Rolle or Jones. Then there is Mike Williams. Scouts Inc. final mock shows him slipping to #9. Guarantee you some teams will call the Skins if he's available.

Now that we have a #25, there is nothing to stop us from shopping that #9 to every other team and maybe adding Gardner into the package to sweeten the deal. So, it is possible in my opinion.

The fact is... you never know what teams are going to do on draft day, until draft day....alot of them take a wait and see approach......

any team wanting a CB,WR,or maybe even QB and hopeing someone like Carlos Rodgers, Troy Williamson, or Aaron Rodgers falls to them....

and then they see 2 CB's, & 2 WR's taken before us.... they may just be willing to jump up a couple of spots to get that guy they covet and dish out a 2nd or 3rd for him.... it happens all the time on Draft Day.... but we (the general public) will not know most of it until it actually happens...

like I've stated previously, I think we'll parlay one of those 2 firsts into more picks...
