Chris Mortenson has been crying that same tune all year. It even prompted Gibbs to say it was basically a lie.

Chris probably predicted Gibbs wouldn't get back into coaching, and is still pissed at being wrong!

Gibbs will retire before Parcells.....only because he'll have won another SB, maybe two! Parcells on the other hand will die trying to get another one, thus ruining his win/loss percentage as a coach in the process.

Gibbs may be the first to retire, but Parcells will quit the Dallas job before Gibbs quits the 'Skins job. And when Joe retires again, it will be for good. Parcells will "retire" two or three more times before his coaching career is over. But I typically like what Mortensen has to say. He is usually knowledgable, and doesn't badmouth the 'Skins.

please you have to be a fool to think that Mr. Joe Gibbs will GIVE UP!!!! he a man of is word!!!

I don't care who's going to retire first, as long as JGibbs is successful. But this thread kind of gave me a though.
Who do you think is better? I mean....I love JGibbs but maybe his loving personality will not cut it anymore in the league. Parcells has that commanding dictatorship going on there, which seems to be working.

I don't know.......whoever retires first....I just want JGibbs to have more success than Parcells. That's all.

It certainly works for me. Going from 10-6 in year one to 6-10 in year two is the direction I like to see the 'Pies going.

PArcels career win percentage is about 50 and before this season Gibbs win percentage was close to 70...compare those numbers

Personally I think that Gibbs is a better coach than Parcells. However, that stat is totally misleading. Gibbs has only coached the Redksins while Parcells has been the head coach of the Giants, Cowboys, Patriots, and Jets. He took over most of those teams when they were terrible and made them better, getting each team into to the playoffs. So you can't really judge Parcells on his wins/losses. But like I said, I would take Gibbs over Parcell anyday.

Sorry hatsOFF, but you may like Joe but you do not know him very well if you think he is "warm and fuzzy" or 'easy' with the players. Joe is a leader who leads by example and is very loyal to the players but he is very firm with them too.

He is one of the best NFL coaches ever! Bill is just a very good coach but he is not and was not ever as good a coach or as good a man as Joe.

Parcells DID take his team to the playoffs didn't he? Joe wasn't able to do that, and I'm not crying about it. BUT If JGibbs is not able to take the Skins to the playoffs this year, won't Parcells have the edge?

Gibbs will stay 4 more years and Parcells will quit the boys after this next losing season.

Gibbs will probably permanently retire before Parcells though...

Parcells will never have the edge over Joe. Joe is fixing some serious issues with the skins. He's also building for the now AND the future.

Parcells is good at short term fixes. Probably the best ever. The problem with Bill is this. First of all, he doesn't take a team over and build them to win the Superbowl. He's won superbowls, but not with any of his last 3 teams. He builds a team to get to the playoffs. He's done this mainly thru bringing in his old players.

The cowboys were 10-6 his first season and they made the playoffs. Simply put, they got extremely lucky. They could have easily lost 4 more games that year. The result was shown this last season. Bill doesn't have many of his old players left. Most of them have retired and the ones left aren't that good anymore.

IMO the cowboys will be very lucky to get 8 wins this season. Even if they do, Bill knows he can't turn them around especially with the Eagles as good as they are and the up and coming Skins in the division. He'll quit the boys after this season. I'm actually quite surprised he stayed this year. I think Gibbs coming back may have gotten under his skin a little and he's wanting to prove he's better. Fatal mistake on his part lol...

Let's simplify it even more. Bill Parcells, 2 SB trophies with NYG. Nothing since, although he did take the Pats to the game. Joe Gibbs, 3 SB trophies with Redskins. Did take Redskins to SB one other time and lost. (@#$%%^*!!! Raiders). Win/loss percentage in SB, Parcells .666, Gibbs .750. Which one would you take? Which one would you consider the better coach? That was over a decade ago. Things change, the game changes. I know JGibbs was the best coach back in the day but he has yet to prove that he still has it going on. (Not that I believe he doesn't have it going on.)

Bottom line, he hasn't proved that he is the coach he once was. I can't wait till the day when the media realizes that the old JGibbs is back. The JGibbs that wons us games and took us to the playoffs. It's coming......it's coming......

i hate how espn asks these stupid questions to their master of the NFL anchors, how does this even matter in any way.. who retires first "Gibbs or Parcells"....

Put aside your bias for a second and consider this:

Parcells willed a team that should have finished 6-10 to 10-6.

Would Dave Campo have done that? Would Gibbs?

Don't tell me it was all luck. Good coaching wins close games and that's what happened.

Gibbs is a great. And I think he'll go after Parcells. (Remember, Parcells has said he's getting old and is thinking more Horse Racing after Dallas).

Regardless, don't knock what Parcells did in 2003 as lucky and turn the other cheek on Gibbs this year. Gibbs had a better team than that and I'd think you guys would be aware of it.

You're right PT, That kick-off that went out of bounds against the Giants was a brilliant stroke of coaching by the Tuna. And the onside opening kick-off by the E-gals was pure Parcells genius.
