Heath Shuler and Politics?

Representative debate
Former pro football player Heath Shuler is considering a run for the U.S. House, a family friend and adviser said.
"He is considering it," Randy Flack said. "There's a chance of him saying, 'I am not interested.' His main consideration is the fact that he has young children. He wants to be active in their formative years."
Shuler, 33, is father to a 3-year-old son and 6-month-old daughter.
Shuler played at the University of Tennessee, then went on to an NFL career with the Washington Redskins and the New Orleans Saints. He moved to Waynesville in December 2003 from Tennessee.
Shuler, a Democrat, has no political experience. He owns a real estate company based in Knoxville, Tenn. He lives in the district represented by U.S. Rep. Charles Taylor, an eight-term Republican. Taylor beat Democrat Patsy Keever in November with 55 percent of the vote.

I have been a dedicated reader of this site multiple times each day for years and have never posted before. Don't ask me why now.....but............I was a huge Heath backer when he was here, but given the amazing intellectual talents he demonstrated while he was a Redskin, I think he will fit in perfectly as a democrat. I don't think the Republicans have much to worry about, but if he won he might actually raise the IQ level of the dems in office.

He has no starting QB experience in the NFL also!!!
Will he wilt in the primary just like he did in the pocket?
He will be a godsend to Republicans everywhere !!!

Special from Fat Len: Heathbar intends tio return to the Redskins if he misses the primary. Norval just wasn't the right coach.
OK
Was that scary enough? Or the rumor that <a QB who cannot be named> is talking to Danny boy about a tryout. "I've still got the gun".
(No, I made that up, also. Practicing to try from Fat Len;s job.)

...an NFL career with the Washington Redskins
Since when is the word "career" interchangeable with the word "bust"?

Anyone who votes for someone based
only on their political affiliation shouldn't be voting.
Also, I think Heath would do OK. It's not like he's the one who rammed his head into the goal post.

If he's a democrat, I hope he's a Southern Democrat (in the mold of Zell Miller and John Breaux)...which is, essentially, better than a "moderate" republican (from a true conservative's point of view).

In the mold of Zell Miller the segregationist?
That's just what we need, more racists in office...

I think it was a wall.

Oh, I always thought it was the goal post (I was in Japan when it happened).
If it was a wall then that's OK.

Racists? Like the Democrat Icon Robert Byrd?

Democrat huh? Sounds like his political views are about as solid as his football smarts.

Since when did this site become a political blog spot? Interesting fact about Heath; but I think more football talk and less partisan political bickering would be the key.
We all know that, while we are all fans of the Skins, we are not all on the same side of the proverbial political fence. I could go deep into a smack forum about politics, but I would rather read about football here.
Go dems

So sorry to have offended anyone. It seems that the political discussion was fine until someone from the other side of the "proverbial political fence" spoke up. I'll bet you want to draft Matt Jones too!

Ditto, Ditto, Ditto. Political talk gives me an ulcer...I live it and breathe it all day long...TheHogs.net is my escape into some Football reality. Sometimes, I can't resist the urge, however, to enter into the politcal fray...so...getting back on track:
I think Heath Shuler would make a fine politician...just wish he were a conservative (in fact, I was shocked to hear he was a democrat)...now, he might in fact be a conservative democrat, which I was trying to state earlier...which would make me able to stomach him a bit better

He could be a liberal conservative.
Wait that would make him an independent.
