Carlos Hall traded to KC... we lose another one...

Defensive End Carlos Hall was traded for a mere 5th round pick today, the standout defensive lineman will now be leading Kansas City to a Superbowl (early prediction with the improved D) and we'll stuggle to stop people from scoring. Awesome!

Was Carlos Hall even on our radar screen??? I don't recall any real efforts to acquire the guy. Did Gregg Williams coach him and/or ask for him? Did Joe believe he was "a Redskin"? Methinks there is a reason why we didn't go after him with great fervor. I'll go out on a limb and say I trust our coaches/front office made the right decision.
...and, there is NO WAY KC wins the big one.

I would still trade a 5th round pick for Carlos Hall.
I mean we might even get a DE in the 5th round, and its a samll % chance that we will get a gem or someone with his skill level

You have to ask yourself is he worth the 5th round pick
AND the money you would have to pay him. I don't think so, because he is not an upgrade to what we already have at DE. Plus, he's not leading anyone to a championship.

He would've been a nice pick up but I mean, really I think we can do without him.
It seems like you are giving up on the Skins just like everyone else in the media..

Is there evidence that the Redskins wanted him?
What's wrong the the defense?
The OL is the engine of the team. It added Rabach and Jansen, while retaining Brown and Raymer. THat's an off-season win. Yes, Ranmsey needs to continue to improve, but he's doing it. The team has two good runners. The TE and H-back are solid. The WR's are new, ans S Moss is behaving as if he doesn;t want to play. There are others.
Do I hear a call for Darnerian McCants??? Is James Thrash just dog meat? If Rosenhaus/Moss want to hold out, then word gets around: more trouble than he's worth.
So far, things look good.
And then there;s the draft.

I am down on the Redskins, the following positions in my view are big weaknesses:
LG- I have faith in Dockery, but right now he's not showing us anything. I hope he can improve and be a starter... I think he can and this might be the least worrysome on the list.
TE- I don't really like Robert Royal. He looks like a great backup... but still he's very average and would need to have a breakout season this year to validate his starting position.
WR- Moss is holding out and we have about a million 3rd recievers. Jacobs, Patten, McCants, etc. etc. etc. None are bonafide starters. One would need to have a huge camp to really get a starting spot.
DE- Both our DE's are very old... Daniels and Wynn could be breaking down. I don't see much help on the horizon either, I guess I hope we draft Merriman... although I'd like to know what he can get his playing weight up to.. can he get up to 260-270?
DT- Griffin is great, but is the rotation working? Should we get a young player for Salave'a later? How long can the rotation hold out?
MLB- Barrow would probably have been a decent player last year but he has factors working against him:
-Size, he's too small
-Age, he's lost a step
and
-Knees, his knees are robbing him of even more of his speed.
I seriously doubt that Barrow can be a good starter next season. I think we need a replacement, but who?! Who will be the QB of the defense?
CB- With Smoot gone we're left with Wilds and Harris as possible starters. Who thinks these guys are ready to play everyday? Wilds looks like a great nickel back but not a starter... do we draft Rolle or Jones? Rolle might be gone and I don't think Jones is the answer...
Will we be able to compete in 2005? We're not having a great offseason... hopefully once we deal Gardner and free up some space we'll be able to get an impact player after June 1st.

I agree welch! We are an improved team and will hopefully continue to do so. This is my mantra this season. Stay the course, have patience, let Joe and co do their thing and those players that want to buy into it will reap the benefits both financially and through personal satisfaction!
I hope we start playing those who practice hard and are willing to sacrifice for the team - all others should be allowed to back-up and if they can't be quiet then be elsewhere! ..buh bye!..

...

Thankyou, 55, for telling me that he is holding out. I didn't know that. I just saw that he was missing voluntary workout.

Hopefully he is "holding out" from the voluntary workouts so he can get his holdout out of the way, and will report to minicamp ready to go.
