I was so close to buying a Sean Taylor jersey, good thing I bought that Joe throwback instead. I really liked 36, it seemed to fit perfectly and now we lost the defensive trio of sixes:
56 36 96

Awesome, I like the number 21, It was also the number of my favorite baseball player growing up, The late great Roberto Clemente

I don't really like how he changed his number but think about it.
Some of our great players have numbers ending with 1! (PRamsey, STaylor, MBowen)
But then, good players end with six too (Arrington, Portis)

I wonder what he's gonna change his number to in 2006?

If the pattern is as simple as I think it is he'll wear 6 next year.

I liked 36 too...but 21 has a nice look two...especially since it will be the first time we've had such an explosive hitter wearing that number.

Hmm i think 36 expresses Sean Taylor better, and i like the 6s more Portis, Arrington, Griffin...
But i guess Sean taylor will make the 21 a great #.

Anyone seen anything official on this? The Skins site still shows him as 36:

I'm with ya on that one...
kinda gotta wonder about this kid. He's wanting to rework his contract and changing his number to Smoot's? Mebbe he's trying to make people forget Smoot, mebbe he's trying to honor Smoot, or mebbe he's just a little crazy. All I know is I loved his play(for the most part last year, although he got burned here and there) and I will miss the 36 on him...

It is official ST now wears #21 as I was at the Dulles Redskins Store today. They have the replica jerseys on sale, but not the authentic as of yet.
I was disappointed at first since I have the authentic #36 ST jersey, but the wife pointed out that I now have ST's rookie jersey and if I can get it autographed during training camp that would icing on the cake.

I didn't like the idea of him wear 21, as I like 36 on him. I liked how are star players #'s end in 6 ie 26,36 & 56.
Than I threw 21 on him in Madden, it looked pretty solid. Bottom line the guys a BEAST from head to toe and would look good wearing any number...I'd say even 00.
Hopefully he doesn't plan on starting a trend by wearing a new number every year

It's a good thing u didn't buy a Taylor jersey HF

.
21 makes Taylor look speedy, like Fred Smoot. That's what we need most in the backfield, speed. He's gonna speed over in the new 21 jersey and BAM!!! The guy won't know what hit him. The new number is just going to take some time getting used to. For example, let's say he switched to 45, we'd still be bitchin' and moanin'. We just gotta get used to the new number is all.

Was Ernest Byner #21? I haven't dug around to find my 1990 yearbook, but if Byner was #21, then you had an explosive hitter, and an all-time great guy. That's why Byner is now the running backs' coach.
(Just feeling nostalgic...)

If Taylors wearing 21 now then why the hell hasnt Washington Post, W.Times, or Redskins.com reported it? Regardless I think number 21 looks good

Yeah...that's kind of weird. Maybe all of this is just a huge belated April Fool's Prank.
(I'm aware that the store has sold his jerseys for less money)
