I thought that meant he was a goner, but apparently not.

Yeah...but I think that's just formality. Hopefully the Pope will be all right. But his days seem to get gloomier every day.

Yeah I think his age is finally catching up with him.

Personally, I think it sucks the way he allows the church to use him as a prop. How inspiring could it possibly be to see a beloved pop-culture icon sitting in a window, choking ?

Does he "allow" it? Does he choose it? He is still lucid and able to think for himself. He has likened his recent suffering that that of Jesus -- who also suffered very publicly. Not for us to decide what he chooses to do; if the vatican are the spin-doctors here, the pope should be well aware of this too after almost 30 years there. Besides, if he is in fact allowing "the church to use him as a prop", that definitely denotes that it is in fact his choice.

Yowsa. It seems like he's on his last leg. Poor guy.

Perhaps now he'll stop waving that Satanic crucifix he carries.

All the big words aside...does that make it right ? Seeing an elderly man choking in an open window ? Is that "inspiring" ? Should the church exercise a little restraint in this case ?

And you thought I was being tough on you in Smack before, now that I've see that little comment, game on.

Ask the last feller to get on my bad side here what happened, his handle was Gamble or Gumby or something like that, oh yea, that's right, you can't ask him because he Wicked Witched on us, melting all over the board, and was subsequently banned.

But what if it's a dying man's wish to be able to address his "subjects -- just one last time", be with his family so to say. Not for us to say. I do believe the pope was lucid and able to make decisions up until this morning. If it was his decision to address the crowds 2-3 days before his death, so be it. His decision or not, I don't know, never will. But what if...

The symbol of Christ is satanic? Or are you referring simply to the bent crucifix?

What a load of crap. Find me a reference to a bent cross being satanic other than the highly controversial work of 'The Broken cross' in which Compton cites only 'catholic sources' as his reference. This is nothing more than faction christian cults imposing guilt on their brood. There is not a solitary reference to the bent cross being satanic that DOESN'T cite Compton as their source... and he himself had no source to speak of. It's pure Hog Wash.

In actuality the bent cross has no ties to practicing satanic worship. Satanists do often use an INVERTED cross to symbolize their opposite values pursued by Satanists. It stems from the fact that Satanists often crucified their sacrifices on an upside down cross.

EVEN the inverted cross is questionable as a true satanic symbol. St.Peter himself was crucified on an upside down cross and christians used the inverted cross as a symbol of St.Peter's martyrdom. There is even an inverted cross on peter's alleged resting place and tomb.

He kicked about an hour ago, so I guess there will be no balcony dangling.

The Pope, I mean. Not the guy in the funny outfits that's never seen in public.

I understand that different people may have different religious beliefs or even none. I respect all positions. But I also expect others to respect mine.

Today is a very sad day in my life due to the loss of the Head of my Church. A man that I admire profoundly and worship with all my heart.

I do not expect you to understand it if you do not feel the same way. I only ask sensitivity and respect towards my feelings and the feelings of many millions of people around the entire world who feel the same way.

Thanks in advance.
