Linebacker Jackson released by Bengals
The Bengals waived linebacker LaDairis Jackson on Monday. The fourth-year player was one of 18 players the Bengals placed on a season-ending injury list in 2004 after suffering a knee injury in preseason.
Jackson was claimed on waivers in 2003 from Washington but was on the inactive roster for five games before the Bengals released him late in the season. He was re-signed to the 2004 offseason roster. Jackson did play in 15 games in 2002 with Washington when Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis was the Redskins' defensive coordinator.

I remember some people being pretty upset when we released Jackson and I could never understand why.
Having seen what he's done since... I guess it was cool to part ways with him as he hasn't done squat since leaving the Skins. Not a game played since I don't believe...

I was mad when we released him. He showed flashes of talent and potential when we played him in 2002. He had 5 sacks in the preseason that year (yeah, I know it doesn't mean squat) but he did really well when he played later that year.
Injuries slowed down his career. I would take a chance on bringing him back if he's willing to convert to a defensive end.

So that we could have a defensive end on IR instead?
He's worth a league minimum contract with no bonus to see what he can do though... anyone is.

Exactly. If you think Brown's worth a shot, why not Ladairis?

You might argue because one guy is someone that was supposed to have amounted to something and hasn't, whereas the other guy is just a guy that hasn't amounted to much.

Boss and Jake are going at it, so I'm gonna slip this one in. Jackson did his work under Marvin's tutelage here, right ? Marvin couldn't get the same output from him in Cincy, so he cut him.
I'd stand by Marvin's assessment of the guy.
