I want to be a Redskin

Lol, I know this sounds stupid as hell, but my dream is to be a running back in the NFL or if not the NFL, Arena Football League. I tried out in high school as a WR in 11th grade and after that I knew that WR was not the position for me. I don't know what the chances are, especially because there are no white RB's in the NFL and I'm 18. It's probably my last chance to go for this goal. I'm 5'11, 180 lbs, and I honestly love football too much to just watch it. I'm fast with a football in my hands and I can knock some people down. I'm in a community college (Santa Monica College) and our school has a football team called the Corsairs, Chad Johnson and Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers, played here. Anyway, back to the point, I need some opinions here before I actually try out for the team. The thing is I never really had any football expirience besides for 1 year as WR, and I know that probably everyone on the team has been playing since they were 10. Also, like everyone on the school's team is black. You think I should go for it or just say "screw it". Because I know that later I'm going to be kicking myself in the head saying "Why didn't I try?" Maybe I'm just dreaming, but honestly I think I have it in me. What do you think I should do, honestly?

I know a few people around here who have the phone number to Redskin's Park. If you ask nicely they may share it with you and you can call and inquire if open try outs ever occur. Just one word of advice. If you call act in a professional manner. They are much more likely to take you seriously, if they will at all.

LOL, soon my dear, I'll call them when the time is right.

I'm not thinking about Redskins try outs just yet, I was thinking of trying out for the school's team for now.

What more needs to be said ?
I'll tell you this, though. You won't get any stronger or faster sitting here, soliciting opinions. It shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks.

The one-on-one drills are really going to test you (you're the "outsider") - so you need to be mentally tough too...befriend some current players now, so you don't come in "new" the first day...

Plus, if you do make it into Redskins Camp...you have to get Hogs.net full media access, or else we'll do you up in Hogwash like FredEx.

I say go for it. I played ball in high school..was a good TE made all conference and got some letters to play college. I told myself I wasn't good enough to play at the next level. I was wrong, I could have played, the guy who backed me up in high school got a full ride to WVU and ended up being drafted by the Pats (didn't make it) but had a big HOF bowl ring on his finger and a free degree. I also played in the Air Force, I played with a guy over in Okinawa who was OK to say the least. He got out and told us he was going to play college ball, we all kinda laughed. He ended up going to a JUCO and was picked up by Arizona State...remember when they beat Nebraska? He was the kid was had two safties in that game. Jimmy Johnson drafted him and he started for a few years down in Miami last time I heard, Derrick Rogers was in NO. Moral of the story is what I continue to tell my son, you won't know unless you take the shot. Don't do what I did, and wonder if you could have...GO FOR IT!!

dude, you need to go ahead and work the community college for transfer classes. and transfer to a four year school ASAP. then invest in some weight gain. :) and if you really want it and are committed to it, then you'll get there. always set your goals high. and then do the work it takes to achieve them. the sky is the limit.

My 2 cents

i want to be an Oscar Meyer Weiner.

But hey, SkinsLavar, I'll be looking for you in the NFL.

And if you need motivation, just pop Rudy in the DVD player.

If it is really your dream then follow it. Don't ever just sit down and dream. Stand up and make your dream a reality.

Its alot of fun when your living a dream and you know it.

Only you know if you have it in you. If you know you have the talent, dedication, and heart to do it, go for it. You've got us all behind you.

If you do get to have that Tryout with the skins just play your heart out. If you guve all you have each and every day. I know Coach Gibbs will at least consider you.

It's the only justification I have for Ade Jimoh being on the team.

I say go for it. Im going to Towson hopefully next year, and they are so bad at footbally, I've considered trying out there.

But if you dont make it, feel free to come play with me and my friends, if you feel like making the trip out to Howard County. haha, I have no idea where you live, but really, we play almost every saturday.

I tried out my freshmen year of HS, having no clue what I was doing seeing as how I had just started watching football only a year before. I of coarse got cut, but was to lazy to work our, and work for a spot on the team the next year. My other friends did, and made the team sophmore year. I started lifiting again like a year ago, and regret all the time not working hard a few years ago. So if you really want to make it, work hard at it and you will at least know you gave it your all.

When I was playing High School ball here in VA... my head coach was a high profiled, well respected coach, even amongst his players... brought his teams to alot of state championship games... he got us all together this one time after I'd been playing ball for him for a couple of years... and told us all that most of us wouldn't even make it to the NFL...basically shooting down any dreams I had, and I turned the wrong direction... and have regreted it ever since...

so all you guys who have posted lately, who've said they dream to play pro ball, and are still young enough to have a shot... don't let anybody tell you otherwise... If you want it to happen... it will happen... you just got to have the heart & desire to make it happen.... you've only got one shot at it...My 2 cents

Let me be the 1st to tell you that you're not fast, big, or smart enough. You won't make it, you're a loser.

Get used to it, and learn to ignore it!
