"With the addition of Santana Moss on Thursday, head coach Joe Gibbs said he is "comfortable" with the wide receiver corps heading into next season. On Darnerien McCants, Gibbs said: "He is definitely in the picture for us."

Does this means no Mike Williams if he is available?
I hope not, we defenitely need a very good WR. A #1 WR

Perhaps DMAC will get a shot to be the "big target" receiver next to Moss/Patten/Jacobs/Thrash

What's he supposed to say - We suck at WR - ? We're better than a lot of teams right now, but I wouldn't read anything else into Gibb's comments. Gibbs likes to bring young guys along slowly - it's in his nature. He's a big picture, long-term thinker... Williams is still on the radar - but there are a lot of blips.

I think he is being realistic that Mike Williams and Edwards may not even be available at 9, and we should take the best player there instead of picking a wide receiver at all costs.
Keep in mind guys, that the rate of success for NFL players is roughly the same from rounds 1-3. We can still pick up a quality receiver if not at 9. Anyone see Vincent Jackson fron Northern Colorado? 6-4, 241 and looked impressive at WR.

Now all the talk about Darnerien will change.
I really do hope he gets a legit shot this year. I'm glad to read that it was quoted from Gibbs.

I think Pat has been in Gibbs ear.
He knows that Mac is supposed to have grass stains on his uniform.

I'm glad that we have a guy that the coaches can put on the inactive list every week without even having to think about it. Unless McCants (DMac is some QB in Philly) starts play special teams, or someone gets hurt he will spend mant Sundays on the sidelines!
And I don't think that Gardner isgoing anywhere; heck he is our best WR right now!

He's one of our biggest right now, but not our best. You did hear we signed Moss & Patten this off-season!?

How can you say Rod Gardner is our best receiver right now. jeez. He might be the best if we put pine tar on his hands before every game.

I'm about as comfortable as a wool shirt about this line-up.

Because he is. We go two #3 wr types in patten and Moss. Gardner has been better than Moss in almost everyone statistical category (they are even ratio wise in drops) and even though Pennington is no Jonny U, he is still a damn site better then what we have had here over the past four years. Shotty was right to draft Rod over Moss, because he was and still is the best WR. If you talk to non-Redskins fans they will tell you that Gardner is better (or atleast equal to Moss) (SirSmizzy you don't count, because as much as you on this site you're atleast a closet Skins fan)
Now, where does Thrash fit in the depth chart?

ok, everyone is complaining about how small our new WRs are. so how about moss rides piggy-back on patten's shoulders, would that count as just 1 WR? apparently they are SO small that i bet the refs wouldn't even notice.

If the Skin's don't draft one of the "elite" WR in the draft and we go into the season with what we have, I think the team will be fine. Moss and Patten are not that big but McCants and Jacobs have good size and Thrash is not much smaller.
The Patriots have shown that you don't need your WR's to be 6'3" 220lbs to win a championship.

Sorry to be that guy and go off topic but what do you think will happen to Antonio Brown now with all these WR in the fold (especially Moss and his ability to return punts). By the way Id love to see that race Moss v. Brown.
Brown looked damn impressive in beating Devin Hester (The U) earlier this year...I think Brown might be faster in pure speed IMO.

Coach Gibbs said he saw Moss in the Darrell Green role. Put him back there when you need a home run, but otherwise let someone else return so he doesn't get hurt.

Maybe I'm alone on this, but with all the "Illegal Contact" calls, why not go with a small, lightning fast line up at WR? Even if all the receivers are "#2 or #3" guys on a traditional team, no team has enough corners and safeties to handle all the speed.
Just imagine Moss, A. Brown, Jacobs, Thrash, Patten, and someone like Clayton. Yeah, there all small, but it would be like watching a teacher run after all her Kindegarten kids at recess.
I'm not worried about WR. Look at NE and what they've done in the past few years. The bigger question is can Ramsey create some great chemistry with these guys?

It sounds like I'm one of the few that agree with Gibbs, I am very comfortable with our WR core. Get rid of Gardner for a pick. Trade down in the draft and fill spots on the D (we lost two major components, if you recall) Use Moss, Patten, Jacobs. Thrash can stay on for ST's. McCants in goal line & 3rd down situations. I see nothing wrong with our situation. Cha-Ching!

Smurfs anyone?
With the improvement on our O line and the speed we have added to our WR corps I'm pretty confident that we will be good to go. Gibbs will also tweak the O to improve it. Now we can focus on grabbing the best available player at #9 or trade down for more picks (unlikely in this draft). I admit I'd still like to see Williams in the Burgundy and Gold becuase he's such a beast but if not I still think our WRs will do well this year.
