Good news: $11 million bonus

Supposedly, Samari Rolle signed an $11 million signing bonus with the Ravens. This will increase our chances of re-signing Smoot with the $10.5 million proposal.
Rolle, perhaps the top free agent in the NFL this offseason, agreed on a six-year deal worth $30.5 million (including an $11 million signing bonus), a deal reached between two sides that were narrowly close to going in different directions.
I am sorry if someone posted this already.

Depends on the structure of the deal. If the bonus is prorated, then we might.

i was under the impression that all signing bonuses are prorated over the length of the contract, at least for cap purposes.

Again, we cant do anything until Gardner is traded. We need that 2 mil cap room.

I saw on Sportsnet last night that there were talks between the redskins and the vikings over Gardner.
I am not sure if there is any truth to that.

who cares about all this?? in 2 or 3 years the skins will be so far over the salary cap that they'll have to jettison half the team like the titans did. sorry... this is my vent board.

Gardner is talking with Cleveland, Minnisota, and another team. We should get a decent pick for him.

i have a strange feeling your right... we will probably be surprised at the value Gardner is going to bring...

I think we are going to keep smoot... only if we really want the rookie WR Williams...

If we let smoot go... then we are taking a corner in the draft... if smoot stays... we go WR...

my only question is... how can we afford to pay the 9th overall pick? are we going to have to trade out of that spot?

I've been thinking about it. There has to be more up their sleves. They are saying that Gardner is the top free agent on the market b/c there isnt anyone else left at W/R worth discussing.

Plaxico Burress isn't half bad... and he is now rumored to be going to Philly... TO and Plaxico is pretty nasty...

Yeah but they said that he wants way too much money and he has been too inconsistant.

I've been hearing about how thw cap will force us to dismantle every offseason. Did I see that this year? No.
The Redskins offered a fair contract to Pierce. He left for more money. He wasn't a cap casualty.
Same for Smoot (who I think will still be a redskin next year)
He was offered top 10 money and turned it down.
We haven't been forced to make these moves. The FO is finally making reasonable offers.
And if we are in such cap hell, how can we afford to take a cap hit of 9+Million just to let Coles go?? If it was that bad, he would have been forced to honor his contract and play against his will/ride the Terry Glenn bench/whatever.

The FO has managed to write contracts that can be restructured many ways. How many times has Samuels restructured now? Three? I'm not saying they are doing the best job, I think they throw around too much guaranteed money, but when have the redskins had to dismantle?

I'll believe the salary cap hell when I see it.
Next years salary cap should be around 100M, I think.
And then there will be a new CBA around the corner. If we are forced to be in the position the Titans were in this year, I just don't see it.

Hopefully Gardner can net us a 2nd rounder.
