Bowen or Clark?

Who do you think should start? Obviously they will be competing for a starting spot, but whom do you like more?
I personally think it's a very tough call because I love how both of them play. I liked Bowen before the season started. Then he had 9 tackles, 2 sacks and a forced fumble in his first game in the GW system. After that he played pretty solid until he got hurt. I can’t imagine what he would have done with a full season.
Then in comes Clark (undrafted/unproven) to replace Bowen and the guy is all over the field!! He had 80+ tackles on the year, some of which he hit guys like a LB. The guy packs a punch for 5-11 200lbs.
All in all it’s a win, win situation for us. It’s nice to know we have the depth, but it’s too bad we couldn’t use one of them somewhere else.

Bowen. He's fast and big enough to used as a rushing threat (Tampa Bay). Clark is solid, but not the same pass rushing threat.
I'd be fine with Clark starting, I guess, but i think Bowen is better. Either way, it will be interesting to see what GW thinks.

bowen. unless the knee is a continuous problem.

I like Clark. Losing Pierce and maybe Smoot too, I hope we keep continuity on the Field. Bowen off of a torn knee ligament should stil be a quality backup...but don't bench a guy who has already done it, for a guy coming off of a serious knee injury.

bowen was blowing it up before that injury. the guy had 4 sacks i think..... in only three games. he fit the scheme if you wanna use that term.

Matt is one of my favorite skins.
But Clark really proved himself last year letting us know that we are set a safety.
PS: and just think, we could still be wasting money of Iffy, i hated that guy.

I like Clark, but given full recovery, Bowen is the better football player. Might see Clark or Lott in nickel situations though

Whoever works harder in training camp and makes bigger plays in preseason. My money would be on Bowen, but I'm not counting Clark out. They've both proved themselves to be solid players come Sunday.

Knowing GW, He will package each guy for certain plays. Both guys can play and it is good to know that if one goes down with an injury the other can easily step in.

They've both proven that they can start; therefore, its anyone's job now. Let them compete in the preseason. Whoever kills a reciever first should get the job.

I pick the person who outperforms the other during training camp and preseason. Also, if Bowen wins the starting SS spot I'd like to see Clark as a cornerback. Hes definitely fast enough, would be good in run support, I just dont know if he has good enough one on one technique

Bowen deserves to come back as the starter but Clark is surely going to give him a run for his money.
I'm going to root for the underdog and go for Clark.

I see mostly highlights of games as very few get broadcast out my way so all I have ever really seen Bowen do is trail the play on touchdowns. Is he a better pass defender than it seems? I'm just always screaming at him as the other team scores. I do like the way he punishes people at times.
Just some thoughts.

Ryan Clark needs to start...he did very well last year and how can we bench a guy who had 80 something tackles as a backup...he also didnt even play the first few games...I like this guy better than bowen, bowen is so injury prone its unbelieveable

Bowen is more physical and more reckless.
One of my faves.
Clark is a stand-in.

I just watched some chips of Bowen working in GW's system and like what I see. I still like Ryan Clark, he did his job and proved that he can play also.

I would like to see Clark fill in at CB. If he can play safety like that, I don't see why he can't be molded into a good cover guy.
If the Pats can take a receiver and make him a DB, and win the SuperBowl, Why can't we at least try this option? I don't like our CB situation - Wilds and Jimoh scare the hell out of me.

I don't buy the "he gets his job back" stuff. Bowen is a super person and I think he can play. He better be at the top of his game though. Clark was outstanding in his effort, study and play throughout the year. The odd man out looks to be Lott - we have a ton of talent at S, after not having any talent for 12 years or so.
I'd have to give the edge to Clark and hope Bowen reads better and takes better angles on running downs.

I don't think Lott is the odd man out. I think Taylor and Bowen are the safeties and Harris, Wilds, Lott and Clark compete for the #2 CB spot. I imagine we will rotate as well to stay fresh and use one for run support in certain situations. I really like both Lott and Clark for coverage, so I expect them to really push Harris and Wilds for the starting and nickel spots.
However you look at it, we are stacked at DB.

Scottskins...
While I agree with most of what you said, especially the part about Bowen and Taylor as our starters, I'm not so sure we're "stacked at DB." I'd like to see us get a young CB in the draft. Maybe use a 3rd rounder on one - a Dominque Foxworth from Md would be good. While Springs and Harris will both be fine in 05, they're both getting up there in age -- remember, you can never have too many CBs...that's true in college too.
Clark is an excellent backup for us and will play on obvious passing plays.
Hey, don't forget about Franz...that guy is a football player. Not a star athlete or starter type of guy, just a football player! He plays ST too. I like him, I bet Gibbs does too.

I'm sure we'll add a CB somewhere, but I wouldn't be surprised if we go with what we got. As long as I don't have to see Jimoh out there, I'll be happy...

This is will be good competition...I like both of them and I thnik Prioleu might even give them a run for their money, Bowen plays a little more aggressive than Clark, but Clark may be better in coverage
