Trotter hasn't learned his lesson yet

Mar. 2 - The Eagles haven't been able to reach Jeremiah Trotter's agent for several days, an indication that the team's offer to the linebacker was unsatisfactory, The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

According to the newspaper, a league source said Tuesday night that Trotter's agent, Jimmy Sexton, told Trotter that he'll have to look elsewhere for a better deal. Two league sources have said that Chiefs are prepared to make an offer to Trotter.

Trotter got picked up off the scrap heap by the Eagles last year and he started the season as a special teamer. Eventually he got a chance and played some decent games. I remember him saying how greatful he was to Andy Reid and how happy he was to be back playing the system that he fits in. Now he wants more money. I hope he goes to another team, falls flat on his face again and gets cut. Except Andy Reid won't be calling him this time.

He should be worth a little more money, the Eagles couldn't stop the run until Trotter was put back in the middle. They should show him a little respect, he does get the job done. The guy is a tackling machine! However, he shouldn't be to greedy either and be thankful they took him back, maybe if he was productive this season as well. He should have some incentives written into his contract, if he produces he gets paid period!

I agree and always knew he'd come back to form. The guy's a beast and considering we're still paying for him and the Pierce situation, I wouldn't mind him back at MLB for us.

The chances of that are slim, but that would be a hilarious if he came back to DC. Talk about being on the NFC East marry go round!! Stranger things have happened and I too would be happy to see him play MLB for us again.

again, agree on all counts

something tells me the chiefs or perhaps the rams will step up and pay him big $$$

I'll be glad to see him leave the division.

Yes, if he doesn't play for us than get the heck out of the NFC East!! We don't need him stuffing/tackling Portis twice a year.

One last thing, we really need to stop stroking each others egos...but when your right your right! lol

True it's only a matter of time and I forgot to mention my money is on KC to pick him up.

Whatever we do...we cannot let the Danny know he's looking for a higher paycheck. Danny's been quiet, but I'm sure he's itchin'to strike a deal.

have you people lost your minds? trotter is garbage. go back and watch tape from the 2003 season-- jeremiah trotter is single-handedly responsible for costing us between 3-5 games!!! because he always overpursues, he is always out of position. the eagles defense had one big weakness before reid put him in- you could run up the middle on them. they were already pretty good at stopping just about everything else.

all reid had to do was say (or try to communicate through grunts and hand gestures) "Trotter, stay in the middle! Just plow yourself up the middle on every play", and that was enough to help their run D. but most teams can't get away with having a player who is so completely one-dimensional.

gibbs knows this, GW knows this, which is why they cut his sorry butt in the first place.

Single-handedly?! I highly doubt it. If teams were running up the middle all day on him maybe, but he's a rock in the middle. As for outside contain, isn't that the responsibility of the CB, DE & OLB first. They either make the play or force it back inside. Making it pretty tough for any MLB to single-handedly lose a game, unless he can't tackle anything up the middle or cover guy in pass coverage. You don't record 90-100 SOLO tackles a year, if your constantly over pursuing. It happens to all the play makers who are all over the field. If you’re the first guy to the ball 90% of the time, your bound to over pursue at least once a game. I'll take that any day with an average of 7-8 tackles per game, with a forced fumble, interception or sack thrown in every now and again.

he was also one year removed from ACL reconstruction

One reason the Eagles didn't come up with the kind of financial commitment Jeremiah Trotter wanted before free agency began was concern about the outlook for Trotter's knees. If, after an exam, the Chiefs have the same concerns, they are unlikely to dramatically surpass the Eagles' offer, and the market for the middle linebacker will be established. But if the Chiefs think Trotter's knees look good, they and other possible suitors probably will be willing to pay significantly more than the Eagles.

The Eagles get away with one here, in my opinion. He could have gotten more with another team
4M signing bonus not that high.
3M per year is very affordable for Trotter
I think he realized his home was in philly in JJs system.

NOW, what do I want for christmas? For Trotter's knees to give out about mid season, and JJ to have to plug Simoneau back into the middle again.

Simoneau couldn't even keep a starting job on the outside. If we draft a LB in any round this year I don't think he's going to last through training camp.

Damnation.

I thought this would bite Philthy in the ass. He really is a perfect fit in that system.

Shoot.

Can the resident Eagles' fan(s) tell us if Kendrell Bell is a fugazi or is he also going there.

go ahead and doubt all you want. but you may want to go back to game film from that season. you will see at LEAST 3 occaisions in which the game was on the line in final minute or two, and trotter absolutely ignores/blows his assignment to overpursue, allowing a TD, giving the game away to the other team. when all he had to do was stick to his assignment and the game is over. we would have had a winning record if not for him. and no, he didn't do anything good for us either, so don't try to take that argument.

i'm glad the eagles are stuck with that piece of trash.

Lenny says he's a team-first guy. When such an authority on morals and football speaks, I tend to listen.
I also tend to vomit, uncontrollably.

Exactly! This was a big disapointment so much potential and now it looks as though it was just "fo the bling!"

Now where's the questions about overpaying? Because you can afford it does not make vastly overpaying for this "pot" a good move!

Overpaid for him? I may not like the guy, and I may think he's as dumb as a stump, but he counts more against the Skins' cap this year than he does the Eagles'. He signed the same deal that he called insulting when he first left for SnyderBucks.

Dumb as a stump, you say?

Does this make him a serial killer for chopping with that ax?
