well this sucks... i think someone stated Moss was a FA after this year?? this is crap. even hurt coles is better than moss. don't get me wrong i think moss has talent, but this seems like a case of getting what you can get. i would like to see at least a 3rd round pick or a solid veteran in this deal... hell, i wish it was robertson instead of moss. UGH!!!!!!

Patjam, we've got NO leverage. The whole world knows that Coles wants to leave. The whole world knows Coles will only pay back his signing bonus if he likes the deal. So the Skins are at Coles' mercy unless they decide to just keep him.

The Redskins should not let Coles dictate to them. This sounds a lot like rookie parents dealing with spoiled children. Gibbs has to handle this correctly or every disgruntled player will push us around. Someone has to be in charge. Is it Coles? Does Marcus Allen ring a bell? Let Coles rot on the bench if he doesn't do his part in making this work.

Guys this isn't a bad deal. Assuming Coles gives up some of his signing bonus we really switch similar players. There really isn't that much difference between them and at least we get rid of a low character guy. By that I mean, Coles is putting himself first; in front of Gibbs AND the team. Who in their right mind wouldn't want to play for Joe Gibbs?

I like your user name....are you a Terp fan or just think he rules from his time as a Jet?
As far as this deal. It gets us a player for next season and we can resign him or send him packing without taking a hit next season when we can least afford it. This is a big picture move.

thanks
... actually just a fan since his time with the jets ... did you get a chance to see him play at maryland? ... i think he was hurt his senior year, which is why he "fell" to the 2nd round in the draft ... i'm sure it was like watching a man amongst boys
... i was actually at san diego state when marshall faulk was there ... it was just incredible to see how much better he was than everyone else ...
... jordan is the real deal ... i'm so pissed that the jets are going to lose him to free agency ... he has huge talent & it seemed like after sulking and starting the year out disgruntled ... he really learned a lot and matured from the process & has gotten a lot of life lesson from c-mart...
...bottom line is he is a stallion who wants to run ... i'd be pissed having to ride the pine too...
... he will be a great pick-up for some team this year ... i hope to God it's an nfc team ... or at least anyone but the dolphins...
... he will be a 1500+ yd back next year ... a great fantasy pick, who may drop to the later rounds...

There are two distinct memories from his Maryland days.....
1. We lost 49-7 ome to the seminoles, but the 7 was a 75 yard run by Jordan. He broke into the secondary and pulled away from the "speedy" FSU secondary.
2. He hung over 300 yards on UVA (of course UMD still lost 31-30 or something like that).
When we traded Champ last year, there were rumors that the Jets might offer Jordan and a few other players for him. I wanted that one bad. He would be a perfect fit here.

I actually hung out with him a few times, he was my friend's roommate. The guy was a beast at Maryland. He had a ton of records, I think he had the ACC rushing record. And was up there with Ricky and Ron Dayne for the NCAA rushing title.
Good guy...while we were all getting bombed after the games he'd just chill, he was focused on taking care of his baby and family. Lamont will deffinately be signed...I say the Bucs or the Raiders get him.
He would do good with the Raiders...Collins/Porter/Moss/Jordan ....what?!!!

... it is amazing how fast he is ... he can turn the corner or if he just gets a small gap ... bang ... he's gone ...
...he actually had about 3 or 4 runs like that 75 yarder this year that didn't even count ... most if not all called back by holding penalties on becht on the other side of the field ... gotta say i'm not sad to see ole stone hands go...

i know the skins have no leverage but it stinks to be in this position in the first place. isn't anyone else tired of the drama? i was really looking forward to the skins adding not subtracting this offseason.

... that's awesome that you got a chance to hang with him ... he seems like a good guy from his time in ny ... i think he got a bad rap early this season by being upset that he wasn't getting any carries ... hackett totally screwed up by not feeding this guy the ball more ... i kept preaching to have curtis run it 2/3 to 3/5 of the time & l-j the rest ... it would have really made opposing defenses have to adjust to 2 totally different style's & kept them both fresh at end of games & the end of the season
... i can't stand the raiders, but agree that would be a great place (for him) to wind up ... as long as their o-line is even half way decent how are you possibly going to contain porter/randy moss & have enough guys in the box to stop l-j
... i might have to recheck our opponents next year to be certain we don't have to play oakland ... i actually seem to think that we do, but for the first time in about 6-7 years it will be in n.j. not ca.

I agree wholeheartedly greg, excpet I wouldn't even let Coles sit on the bench if he has an attitude about it. He'd be sitting at home on his couch...
